This is my first Tesla, so I don’t know what noises are normal. When I get into my the Beast, with nothing running, I hear a low hum that pulses. Normal? Does anyone know what causes it? It sounds a bit like something you would hear in the background in a SiFy film. It’s very quiet, I doubt I can catch it on a recording.

Not from my experience. Maybe try entering without your cell phone on
could be some interference or Bluetooth issue or something associated with the stereo system?

They don't make alot of noise, but they do make noises. Especially if the heating or cooling is running. Remember, it'll pulse the motors to produce heat for the battery pack, too.

Hard to tell from a description, people can be more or less sensitive to all sorts of sounds.

Yep, normal.
While there can be a variety of things going on, once you open the door, the A/C turns on.

Tesla even has the sound in the manual:
https://www.tesla.com/ownersmanual/models/en_us/GUID-AA58ED67-9C93-4EE6-8B19-9FDABE018787.html

If you are moving, then up to 30 mph, you will hear the pedestrian warning sound.

You can expect the vehicle to make sounds after you open the door and up to about 15 minutes after everyone leaves. And anytime if charging.

At a Supercharger on a hot day, it sounds like jets taking off.

Could it be the air pump running lifting the suspension?

No, I was in ICE mechanic for 17 years. I’ve never heard anything like this. It might be the cooling system pump, but it doesn’t sound like any pump I ever heard before. It sounds like something that would come out of a synthesizer. It almost sounds like it starts in the rear and runs to the front. It’s a low frequency, hum noise that pulses. My wife is verified that it exists and I’m not imagining it. I’ll see if I can get a recording, but it’s not very loud.

I ran through all the sounds and it was none of those. Thanks though, it has helped me identify several. Sounds that I didn’t know what they were.

You can also hear 'liquid' sounds from coils, inverters, and dcdc boards as they charge up and down, and their metal crystals flex and change size.

The sounds my bike makes are crazy, and sometimes I think they intentionally let it be noisy since you can't hear those sounds once the motor spins up or the air rushes past!
