Cybertruck now available as INVENTORY on Tesla site!

As of today, the Tesla inventory website offers Foundation Cybertrucks "for immediate pickup" at three locations in Florida: Miami Gardens, Tampa, and Tallahassee. As I understand it, "immediate pickup" means that the FS CTs are in stock right now. You could pick one up today.

I'm seeing three Foundation Series in Miami Gardens, one in Tampa and none (zero) in Tallahassee.

The Tesla website also offers FS CTs at two locations in Texas: San Antonio and League City -- but the Texas options are currently "for faster pickup" (not "immediate pickup"). As I understand it, "faster pickup" means that the CTs aren't actually in stock yet, but are in transit to that location. So you can buy one today, but you can't actually pick it up today.

I see one Foundation Series available in San Antonio, TX, and one in League City, TX. These numbers come from entering the zip code of the actual Tesla Delivery Center in each city and selecting "within 50 miles".

So maybe that's why the Texas options just showed up "out of thin air". Seems possible that FS CTs haven't been sitting around in San Antonio or League City; instead, someone recently made a decision to send them there.

More likely, they were in the showroom or not listed as available until they had the wiper recall or inverter recall performed. It could have also been a sale that was not closing due to problems with the payment that couldn't be addressed.

I doubt they are shipping them around with only a total of six listed, they would probably just sell them where they sit.

Every zip code that I've tried from those states, even from small remote towns, has "deliverable" FS CT options.

Zip codes in TX have the options of AWD/white or CB/white, from San Antonio or League City. Zip codes in FL, GA, AL, and LA have AWD/white, AWD/grey, CB/white, or CB/grey options, from Miami Gardens, Tampa, or Jacksonville in FL.

If Tesla is not shipping them around, then they are casting a wide net for potential customers. For example, FS CTs in Miami Gardens, FL are currently being offered to buyers in Shreveport, LA (zip 71101), which is more than 1,000 miles away.

FS CT availability appears to be strictly defined by state lines. For example, Mississippi doesn't get them, even though the neighboring states of Louisiana and Alabama do. Texarkana, TX gets them, but the adjacent city of Texarkana, AR does not.

My guess would be differences in state law. Tesla sells vehicles directly to consumers, rather than using a local dealer as a middleman. This sales model is actually illegal or restricted in some states (ironically, this includes Texas, where Tesla has a big factory).

So Tesla has to jump through legal hoops to offer vehicles in certain states. For example, the local Tesla center might technically be a "gallery" instead of a "store", and they don't technically "sell" vehicles, but they can facilitate an out-of-state purchase followed by in-state delivery. Or sometimes Tesla centers are located on Indian reservations where certain state laws don't apply.

I don't know the legal details, but I know they vary by state, and I would guess that they have something to do with it. In some states, there are no problems; in other states, there are legal hoops but they are manageable; and in other states, the legal hoops may be more trouble than they are worth.

The Tesla page that lists inventory for any zip code can be manipulated for more info by changing the "available for delivery" to 25 miles, 50 miles, 100 miles or 200 miles. You will find that even selecting within 200 miles will drop some of the available trucks from the listing. This means that the same trucks are being reported as "deliverable" at multiple locations. Tesla will truck your new purchase over 200 miles to another delivery center.

These Foundation Cybertrucks will disappear very soon (and likely without any discounts off MSRP). Tesla wants them off the books by the end of the quarter. And if you want a more affordable non-Foundation Cybertruck, you have to order it and wait.

The narrative that Tesla has a Cybertruck demand problem is false. Remember, they just made the cheaper non-Foundation Cybertruck available about a month ago. Plenty of people are chomping at the bit to get their hands on one. People that don't order soon won't be able to take delivery in time for Christmas or the New Year.

People that don't order soon won't be able to take delivery in time for Christmas or the New Year.

This appears to be true in most parts of the country. If you enter a random delivery zip code into the non-foundation CT order page, chances are you will get an estimated availability date of "Nov-Dec 2024".

However, as of today, availability is much faster in many cities on the West Coast, including Portland, San Francisco, San Jose, Los Angeles, Anaheim, and San Diego. Enter a local zip code for delivery of an AWD and you will get "Available Today".

So something is different about the delivery situation in those West Coast cities. Seems like either Tesla makes a particularly strong effort to supply Cybertrucks to those markets, or else local demand has softened.

January to March are the weakest months for auto sales in general. This market has been seasonal for as long as I can remember.

My point? Even if they offer a few incentives to keep production humming through the slow months, and that is not a given, it could easily become production constrained again as spring weather starts to hit and people want to get out in nature again.

My earlier comments about the false narrative of a demand problem is looking backward, not forward. Some people who hate the disruption the Cybertruck is bringing, were hoping, even praying to their lucky stars, that Tesla would have a Cybertruck demand problem. That the Cybertruck would be a slow seller due to its unique appearance, and all the negative shade they were throwing at it. So far, there has not been a demand problem. In fact, it's the best-selling electric truck, by far.

The Cybertruck detractors have been losing that fight, even as Tesla is selling them for tens of thousands of dollars more than originally anticipated. The fact that their jaws are hanging on the ground at how many Tesla is selling just illustrates how far out of touch they were when it came to new truck buyers wants and needs.

New pickup locations include Riverside CA, Fayetteville GA, and Duluth GA. Maybe not surprising -- over the past few weeks, other forum users have reported unusual numbers of Cybertrucks at all three locations:

I decided to book a test drive, I’m here now there are at least 40 Cybertrucks here, they have a few Foundations, but mostly non Foundations.

I was in Duluth yesterday and happened to be by the Tesla Service Center just off of I-85. While driving behind the service center to get back onto the highway, we saw a trailer pull in additional CT's to park them in the huge lot of the mall. I then stumbled upon this parking deck they had built to house the Teslas. On the first floor must've been 40+ CT's parked in tight formation, many looked really dusty like they've been there for a minute.

Yup, 2024 non-Foundation Series have apparently been added to inventory nationwide. The 2024 Foundation Series are still listed in inventory as well.

No discounts or new incentives as yet. There is still free Supercharging on the FS for the length of your ownership, so that was not an end-of-quarter or end-of-year incentive. Similar deal also still available for the Model S.

Yeah, I saw them a couple days ago. There hadn't been any (Foundation or not) near either address (PDX or SJC) prior when I checked.
