I only asked because I thought the same thing on a previous download and was also taken back until I figured it out.
Yeah, I've never seen an update that self-installed. But I can see how some fat finger action (on the phone screen) could make someone think it did.

Well 15.5.5.3 almost caused 2 crashes for me today in places 15.5.5.2 was usable.

1- right turn on red to main road: accelerated and started the turn while a fast car was incoming on the main road.

2- four lane road (2 east 2 west bound) with turn lane in the middle. Turning west onto main road (unprotected left) went in the turn lane nicely but then 2 cars were incoming the lane it wanted to lean into, turn lane was ending with a median. It violently accelerated towards the median parallel to oncoming cars and it I didn’t take over it was either going to run into the median or hit the cars on the lane it was trying to merge.

Need to keep a close eye on it still.

Just did the install. Haven't driven it yet.
We did test drive (ride?) a model Y with the 12.5.5.3 a couple days ago and it did seem a lot better than the cybertruck (12.5.5.2).

I just got the SW update notification. I am installing it now. I just got back from a day trip. FSD 12.5.5.2 was making a left turn onto a side road and would have hit the other car waiting in the oncoming lane to the left (I had the right of way) if I had not intervened at the last minute. It was so scary that my daughter screamed in horror. I doubt 12.5.5.3 would be any better.

We took it out to the store and I was impressed with the differences. This is what I would expect an FSD product to act like.
It was smooth with its turning. It turned left correctly each time.
At a light it would stop more smoothly like a human. It wasn't as bad about tailgating.
It accelerated like it knew what it was doing, none of that slow start stuttering. It got up to speed in a timely manner and actually got up to about 5 over and stayed there. I didn't have to do any speed control like has been normal in the past.
I was able to tell it where to go, give it a little nudge on the gas accelerator and it would pull out and it drove the whole trip.

This wasn't a long trip but I was pleasantly surprised by the changes.

It still does act like an ass when it gets to its destination (half pulling into parking spots or stopping in the middle of the parking area). I had to stop it from going over a curb when it got to the store (and possibly hitting a pole).

No update for me yet. I'm wondering if they fixed the bug I had where it wouldn't go on green lights sometimes.

Got my update.

I am so excited.

Spotify is free.

Never mind if it's going into opposite lane for a potential head-on crash with the incoming cars.

Or beating the red light and jumping on the island dividers and curbs.

Make sure your truck is connected to WiFi. Also, I use this page to check and see whether I’m likely to get the update.

https://stats.tessie.com/

If an update actually rolls out past 0.5% then I look for it. I usually get it when it’s closer to 1%. Right now it seems like this particular update is limited to a handful of vehicles.
I got the update and I don't see what changed from the previous version. Looks the same. Maybe the vehicle shapes are a little different but I'm not sure. But, to be fair, I just drove to work. I didn't think about using FSD... There are many places that I am not sure I want to let it try... getting on the interstate where I have to get over 3 lanes rather quickly in stop-n-go traffic is the main hurdle. But, I'll give it a go this afternoon. Maybe it'll be my first zero intervention commute. (44 miles from DC to Chesapeake Beach... from heavy traffic and lots of lane management to an easy divided parkway to another divided highway but this one with much less traffic, to rural 2 lane road with a couple of turns.)

I'll report back after the drive.

I haven’t noticed anything different. But I did use it for the first time in a multi-level unique parking garage in Emeryville, CA and it worked its way thru the garage.

I used it exclusively over about 100 miles yesterday. Overall it was smooth and even seemed a bit more confident. On a very specific part of a road I regularly drive where it drops from 55mph to 35mph over the crest of a hill, the truck slowed down BEFORE the sign and was going 37mph at the sign. FSD has literally never done that in any of my cars in that situation. Historically I’ve had to either disengage to slow it down or just hope there was a lead vehicle.

So far the updated FSD is better, CT drives more centered than towards the left ??
