Were you the guy that had a neighbor using an electric generator?
All generators produce electricity ;) What do you mean exactly? Lots of my neighbors use generators, though none that I know have bidirectionally charging EVs yet.

Haha half asleep... and gas powered generator... a buddy i play with online said his buddy had a neighbor up there that was using theirs to power their house, but didn't like his neighbor making so much sound with his gas powered one and was just curious

I'm in a fairly rural part of NH. My closest neighbor is far enough that even if they were running a generator I wouldn't really hear it. But either way, probably not me, no.

I just got my power back on after 6 days. Very happy I had PowerShare installed. Similar stats - used about 1% per hour, mostly for lights, internet, devices, water heater (pump is electric, heat is gas) and 2x fridge/freezer. Towards the end I got impatient and ran the clothes dryer, microwave, and furnace.

The power switching isn't seamless. You do have a few seconds without power, so it's important to have a UPS to protect your PCs and networking equipment.

For that long of an outage I did need to top up the battery using a generator or going to a friend's house. Having natural gas for appliances and generator was equally important as the CT. There's just no way an EV can run electric heaters, stove, water heater, dryer, etc. for very long.

What the CT provided was silent, clean backup power that I could run overnight (and during the day if the charge level was high) to keep the lights, internet, and fridge/freezers running. If the outage was<24 hours it'd be perfect. When it's longer than that you still need to do some shuffling with generators/superchargers/etc to live comfortable.

I agree, having a gas backup generator is unfortunately still a necessity. The reason I'm bummed about this is that the solution would be for the PowerShare protocol/software (using the 3v Gateway) to support the AC input of a solar panel system, just like a Powerwall setup does today. We were told this support would be "coming soon" at the beginning of the year, but alas, it seems like they have deprioritized PowerShare beyond its initial capabilities.

For context, once (and if) we can connect a PV system as a source (alongside the 60A Universal wall connector breaker) on the 3v Gateway, the system as a whole should be more than capable of lasting for weeks, if not indefinitely. This is because in many cases, a PV system is able to generate an excess of power on a daily basis, with the exception of cloudy days.

Take my 15kW SolarEdge system. During the summer I'm able to generate roughly 100kWh a day, which would be plenty to run my whole house comfortably (50kWh) plus give my truck 50kWh of charge back (about 40%). In this scenario, I could then run offgrid for 2 days at full capacity (assuming clouds), or maybe 4 to 5 days if I power down my appliances a bit.

Hopefully we get this type of support in the future because at the moment, PowerShare is cool, but not worth the cost.

Banked on having a spread of Liquid Propane (Water heater, stove, dryer, furnace) then fireplace. Keeps the house more like a a 800-1200w up and down with just basic freezer/Fridge(s) demand and stretches it out a bit.
Nice if that Gateway is future proof to a degree for solar/powerwalls.

Just got mine enabled Friday night.

Does the truck require a manual restart every 12 hours for the 240v outlet? Does it need to "cool off" or it just continues uninterrupted?
Yeah, this was my only complaint. Had to time the restart period for like 9pm so we had seamless power throughout the night.

They should add a choice to stay on for 12/24 hour selection .
