Well, I'm enjoying the beginning of another project to improve 007's finish using White Diamond Metal Polish for a Brioni tuxedo vibe. I've been using Bar Keepers Friend and Dawn Dishwashing soap and while my truck looks shiny, I wanted a chrome look. I've been using White Diamond Metal Polish on my polished aluminum wheels for a decade. I know it works magic on aluminum. How will it perform on StarShip developed, bullet-proof, stainless steel?

I think when I'm finished it will be "Vesper Lynd" approved. The product performs just as well on the CyberTruck's stainless steel as it does billet aluminum, aluminum plate, and polished aluminum.

I'm very excited to finish 007's transformation to a *Shiny CyberDiamond" for a more *suited* appearance. Sadly, I think it is going to take a couple weeks hitting a panel at a time in the afternoons I'm free.

It's not an easy job. Very time consuming to bring out the best shine. The more times you Polish a panel on the CyberTruck, the better it looks. I've discovered that my OCD is requiring a minimum of 3 Polish applications. Each time you apply and remove White Diamond Metal Polish the process gets easier to remove and reapply. The stainless steel becomes chromed looking but not mirrored. Mirrored enough for me in terms of reflection but, not a rolling mirror.

I started with the Frunk and immediately after polishing the first coat on and removing it, I knew I wanted to keep going. Because the Frunk stainless steel panels were more stained from bugs and other stains, I spent about 4 hours polishing and removing 4 applications of White Diamond Metal Polish. It is very easy to apply but a bitch to remove on the first application. Each time you polish thereafter it gets easier to remove but also shinier. (Just one more coat and it will get shinier addictive! ?)

I have not washed the polished panels yet to remove the polish residue. I expect the stainless steel to really look clean and shiny when I do.

Comparing the passenger doors you can see the difference. Not a mirror though much shinier. My sister really liked seeing the project taking shape and so do I. Shine Bright ? like a CyberDiamond! ?

007's polishing progress continues..

The White Diamond Metal Polishing project continues. Today I polished 007's tailgate with a before and after split to demonstrate the difference in appearance after 3 applications.

This is how good the metal polish works to make the CyberTruck stainless steel shine like chrome. Apply it and polished it off. Do this three times to achieve this level of shine from the factory look.

Apply a dime-sized drop of the metal polish to your pad. Rub the polish into the stainless steel covering the panel until it turns "black." Then use an old/shop cotton towel to remove it. Polishing off the residue is the hard part but reveals the stainless steel shine.

This is a before/after photograph showing how shiny the stainless steel will become and the reflectiveness. Not a mirror but, definitely eye catching.

Now, 007's tailgate is chromed-looking, bright stainless steel.
Tesla Cybertruck "Shine Bright 🌞 Like a Diamond πŸ’Ž "White Diamond Metal Polish" making 007 *Casino Royale* clean. 20241214_163551
Like wrapping your CyberTruck, I've changed the entire personality of 007 from a "matte" pewter look to a "diped-in-chrome" shine that definitely increases the "WoW" factor when you see it. One more side to go and 007 will be fully suited in chrome.
Making my way around to the driver's side of 007, the quarter panel compares to the doors and front fender contrasting *polished* vs *unpolished* factory finish.
Tesla Cybertruck "Shine Bright 🌞 Like a Diamond πŸ’Ž "White Diamond Metal Polish" making 007 *Casino Royale* clean. 20241215_174046
Polishing will fade the *Foundation Series* laser etching on the front fender and tailgate. However, it does not remove it and depending on the angle you look, it is still very legible.

Moving along the driver's side door panels this is the reflectiveness you achieve with 3 applications of the White Diamond Metal Polish.
Tesla Cybertruck "Shine Bright 🌞 Like a Diamond πŸ’Ž "White Diamond Metal Polish" making 007 *Casino Royale* clean. 20241221_162612
Reaching the finish line, I've got to finish 007's front fender to complete his shiny transformation.
Tesla Cybertruck "Shine Bright 🌞 Like a Diamond πŸ’Ž "White Diamond Metal Polish" making 007 *Casino Royale* clean. 20241221_162635
Project *Shine like a Diamond ?* completed. 007 looks amazing and i can't help but think it should have been delivered looking this good. Not a mirror, but, a chromed-look with a deep silver brightness that just looks lux and jewel-like.
Tesla Cybertruck "Shine Bright 🌞 Like a Diamond πŸ’Ž "White Diamond Metal Polish" making 007 *Casino Royale* clean. 20241227_130441
Finally, I've completed this project working panel by panel for about 3 weeks in the rain and cold weather. Three coats applied and removed before moving to the next panel. I've also returned to some areas that were not as shiny as I liked, primarily the doors. There is a patina or film that is thicker and harder to remove than other panels. The CyberTruck's tailgate is the easiest to polish to a chromed-look finish. My hood and frunk have been polished five times creating a highly reflective finish.

My expectations have been exceeded and I'm very proud of my results. For $20 and a few hours of my time I've completely tranformed my CyberTruck to a jewel-like finish that immediately distinguishes 007 from the matte-finish of OEM finished CyberTrucks. People are staring all over again like they did when I picked 007 up in April.

Usually polish needs to come off with a rinse pretty soon after. It can stain plastics and stuff.

That's why it has tape on it. I've worked with White Diamond Metal Polish for years. It will indeed stain rubber and plastic if it hits it and isn't removed immediately. When removed during the process it becomes a micro-dust that is harmless.

Why not just machine polish if you’re going for a glossier look? You’d save a lot of time and it would get done in a day and you get a more uniform finish. A cyclo random orbital with a green pad and basically any polish would be where I’d start. But the fingerprint situation would be even bleaker than it already is. I only hand polish if I’m working a small section and don’t want to go to town decontaminating the surface.

Hand polishing is gentle and is uniform. A bottle of White Diamond Metal Polish is $20 and my time and hands are free. A good cigar, a ball game on TV and polishing 007 is a good afternoon spent.

I have been using eagle one (never dull )on my stainless truck. Say goodbye to any rust.
Its interesting to me using metal polish on my CyberTruck to make it shine. Really messes with a lifetime of waxing and being gentle with a car's painted finish. Haha!!
I believe an application of sealant will be required to maintain the finished appearance.
I have the ProTectaClear ready. The White Diamond Metal Polish has a wax in the formula. My wheels have stayed chrome like for years with no Oxidation so it has its on sealer in a sense. It's a cool project and 007 is becoming a CyberDiamond one panel a day. ?

Myself, and many others, have not been able to achieve a good finish with Protecta Clear. I would hate to see you spend all this time polishing to end up with a streaky finish. I would read up a lot before using it and see if you actually want to. If you do. Apply it to a single panel and wait for it to fully cure before you do more panels. It started out looking fine, but after fully curing, wasn’t good.

Thank you for the concern. I've used ProTectaClear when I first received 007. I know exactly what you are describing first hand. I have applied it and i have removed it. I will say that in the areas it was correctly applied it looked smooth and great. Though, in the areas I over did it the coating was lumpy and runny. Other areas where it was thinly applied the rainbow effect appeared. Over several months of cleaning with Bar Keepers Friend those rainbow areas became more noticeable as the coating polished away.

I'm gonna wait awhile after polishing to decide whether I seal it with the ProTectaClear and use a different technique for applying it. The White Diamond ? Polish has its own sealer to protect the metal. I'm gonna see how 007 ages after I'm finished. I've got to say that so far 007 is looking really, really good! It has a mirrored finish while the grain and metal flake in the stainless steel is still there. Fancy looking but definitely still tough and rugged. ?

Progress is slowly being made.

Looks awesome. Wish I had seen this before doing the Barkeepers and applying Protectaclear. Your finish looks so much better. I wonder if using a ceramic coating after you’re done would be a better option.

White Diamond also makes a Grafene Ceramic Sealer i may try? It appears to be more for painted surfaces. The White Diamond ? Metal Polish has a "long lasting sealer" in the polish. I can say from experience that my polished aluminum wheels on my Viper have remained "chrome" for over a decade. However, they are not exposed to the elements like 007. Take my word for it, this Polish works ? far better than I thought it would on 007's stainless steel body. $20 and your "elbow grease" for a "chrome look." I'm confident this Polish applied a few more times would come close to the mirror finish owners are paying thousands of $$ to achieve.

The best use for Protecta Clear is probably your outdoor BBQ kitchen components and indoor fridge and dishwasher. I used it for these to learn how to apply. Then realized applying to my CT would be risky. Use the product for things that don't matter as much. My outdoor stainless steel looks good and is easier to maintain than before.
