I use a touch all the time, car isn't that delicate. If it couldn't go through a car wash that would be a bad sign of quality. Nothing sticks/hangs/leaks, etc. Not all touch washes are the same so pick one I'd say with good materials that don't dirt from previous washes, etc. That's the only thing I could think of that would cause any scratches.

I have only used touchless, but I'm not afraid to use a touch wash -- I'm just not sure how to be sure the car is setup correctly to go through one.

I use Car Wash mode in a touchless, so I know how to turn that on. But how do you set it up to put it in "Neutral" so that it can be dragged through the wash? Also, how do you communicate what needs to be done to the staff so they don't mess up the truck?

I agree that the car isn't that delicate. Use whatever.

I'm still getting the hang of cleaning it though. I've read the threads and suggestions here, bought several products, but it still seems like the windshield never gets clean enough for me.

The stainless steel is never perfect for me either, but I don't care much about that. I love that I don't have a glossy paint job that I have to keep clean and perfect. But I would like to be able to see out of the front windshield.

One guy told me he wouldn’t buy a CT because he heard they can’t/shouldn’t go into carwashes - the FUD is unreal lol.

that being said i’ve only used waterless wash on mine so far, might be time to test out the nearby drive thru.

Wouldn't it handle regular car-washes better than most cars because of its steel?

You're still going to scratch the living daylights out of your glass.

Isn't the glass stronger than other cars' glass as well? Why is the "CT not being able to handle touch car-washes" a thing?

Thanks for all the comments. I was concerned about things getting hung up in the cracks. There is so many sharp edges. Also about the finish coats and wax???

I don't ever use any kind of wax or detail spray. I would only do the basic wash without any extras other than maybe tire shine.

I'm sure it is harder than average, but those touch car washes have all kinds of micro grit embedded in them and they sandpaper your car. Every single time.

The CT is super easy to hand wash. Get a nice quality pressure washer and make it do most of the work.

By necessity and ignorance my lady and I have been forced into a "touch" only threesome a few times with good success.

I run it through a touch wash - have a monthly pass... so go through 2-3 times a week depending on the weather.

My initial membership was the "premium" or whatever, and included the "ceramic" wax etc... I swapped that for just the basic and tires. After a service visit to clean up two spots from delivery, the SA showed me where that caused some soap spots on the steel, which you can buff out with a white scotch pad (softest you can get) and BKF (they showed me the squeeze bottle, but that makes me nervous so I got the even softer foam spray). He mentioned that the OM does suggest hand washing, but if you're going to run it through... don't add the upgrades.

Fair points made on the glass. I've had a MY for four years and ran it through occasionally... no scratches but all it takes is one rock in a brush...

TL;DR: Car wash mode through a traditional car wash works great. Just don't upgrade it. Hand washing is better... but I don't have time for that. :)
