You may not notice one-time use of a touch wash, but repeated use will definitely cause mass amounts of scratches.

I'm not guessing here, I know it to be a fact. If you want to prove it yourself, go take a close look at any one of them. Not only are most of them black with dirt and oil, but even the foam padded ones have very tiny grains of sand in them that are embedded. You are essentially sandpapering your car every time you use it.
I wouldn't disagree that the cleaning materials can get dirty over time, and that extensive washing over time can generate pitting. But if someone exercises caution, and balances out handwriting versus automated washing facilities, you can greatly reduce the damage process. Like other OEM products.

My point is that you can't "cautiously" run your vehicle through a touch wash. It absolutely will scratch it up every single time. Not sure how else to convey this lol

Car Wash. must we use touchles car washes? Or, can we use touch type?
I don't think it matters which you use. I regularly used a touch-type car wash to clean my old Yukon XL and it was never damaged.

It may be more likely that your Cybertruck will damage a touch-type carwash's equipment than be damaged by that equipment. At least that worries the car wash I usually use. They refuse to touch a Cybertruck, except by hand, and I refuse to pay their exorbitant price for that.

Unless it's really dirty (mud, etc...) all you need to clean a Cybertruck better than any car wash is a few damp and dry micro-fiber towels and a can of Sprayway. And, that will probably take you less time than driving to and from a carwash.

Again, this doesn't really apply to the Cybertruck.

I use touch car washes. Not a problem whatsoever. Put it in neutral to get pulled through. Don’t worry about car wash mode - neutral won’t let the charge port open or anything else that could cause an issue.
A little lesson learned from my 5 years of Model 3 Ownership... Carwash Mode also closes the outside air flapper which if left undone can allow moisture into the HVAC System which can get musty and nasty smelling... Use Carwash mode.

Except it does. Both the glass and the stainless steel will get scratched by the sandpaper in the touch style washes.

Again, this not a guess from me. I am stating a fact.

LOL, Tesla literally grinds the finish into the stainless. Seriously not worried about the stainless. Also, as long as I've been using touch car washes with probably 15 different cars, I have never had any kind of damage to the glass. Is your Cybertruck a garage queen? Because the only vehicle of mine that I would worry about like this is my Corvette Z06, which is a garage queen.

No, my truck already has scars in it from loading my e-moto into it. It's fine to not be concerned about it, I just wanted to set the record straight that touch style washers will absolutely scratch your vehicle up in a heartbeat.

Perhaps you don't have the detailers eye to see the damage? But I assure you it's definitely still there.

I disagree that it's a fact.

I use a touch carwash, same as I use for my other cars. I was the 1st Cybertruck to go through my local place and the manager said he couldn't be sure something wouldn't catch, but if I wasn't worried, he wasn't worried. If it was a collector car, I might care about the minor damage inflicted on the finish (yes even on the Cybertruck), but the reality is that isn't not going to make any significant difference to my resale in 6-8 years. Highway driving is going to take a far larger toll on the finish of the vehicle than the carwash is.

I used to detail cars for a living, but wtf do I know. Run your vehicles though as many automated car washes as your little heart desires.

None of those are HFS cybertrucks. I had swirls on my previous cars, but run my CT through once per week since June and nothing.

It may “absolutely scratch it up” but the scratches apparently are invisible to my eyes.

I got brave and ran my Y through a touch carwash. It lived, actually the surface looks as good as any of my handwashes.

I guess the engineers at Tesla figured out how to defy the laws of physics then. What a great achievement!
