I use touch car washes. Not a problem whatsoever. Put it in neutral to get pulled through. Don’t worry about car wash mode - neutral won’t let the charge port open or anything else that could cause an issue.

Thanks for all the comments. I was concerned about things getting hung up in the cracks. There is so many sharp edges. Also about the finish coats and wax???
I use a touchless but the brushes still make contact on the sides, very lightly, and Blitzen is wrapped with no problems. I just get the basic, water, soap and air-dry, no wax or coating as I am already clear-coated. No problems except the tailgate never gets clean due to no brushes and the sharp upright angle...it's okay, quick wipe down and we are on our way. Only issue was that I had magnetic flames roaring down the rocker panels behind the front wheels and they were blown off with one side totally missing...we think a brush ate it.

Why not just use car wash mode and enable free roll? The last thing I would recommend is trying to outsmart the car. As an example, transport mode uses neutral and has this warning: “While in Transport Mode, the tires are allowed to rotate slowly (under 3 mph or 5 km/h) and for a very short distance (less than 30 feet or 10 meters). Exceeding these boundaries can lead to significant damage and overheating that is not covered by the warranty.”

I DO use car wash mode to be safe, just activate it at the gate, if you don't go over 10 mph it stays on and once in the wash pop the Neutral button, reverse action at the end but the Car Wash mode deactivates as you drive away.

Ok, you use car wash mode but don’t use the ENABLE FREE ROLL feature at the bottom of the Car Wash Mode display?

It’s kind of weird because you have to put the brake on for it to highlight. Then it tells you to enter the mode you need to shift to DRIVE! But if you follow the directions it immediately annunciates free roll enabled.

I also had one car wash energize the system before I was ready. It sounded horrible and I screamed at them to stop as I selected free roll. I now tell them not to enable the conveyor until I give them two thumbs up.

That might be why I missed it, I have been rolling up to position in Car Wash Mode and then pop the overhead into neutral when in place, I shut down the car wash when I first tried it months ago...but I warned the guys and there was no one behind me. That is where I got in the habit of just hitting the neutral button on the overhead as it IS lit up.

I agree that the car isn't that delicate. Use whatever.

I'm still getting the hang of cleaning it though. I've read the threads and suggestions here, bought several products, but it still seems like the windshield never gets clean enough for me.

The stainless steel is never perfect for me either, but I don't care much about that. I love that I don't have a glossy paint job that I have to keep clean and perfect. But I would like to be able to see out of the front windshield.
After many decades of trying to get streak free windows detailing cars i now only use Norwex window cloths. They are a godsend.

They also sell special scrubbers, but you can use any wet rag to scrub with, then dry with the Norwex. No streaks. Game changer. Others might have something similar but I know that the Norwex is flawless and I won't touch glass with anything else.

I have only used touchless, but I'm not afraid to use a touch wash -- I'm just not sure how to be sure the car is setup correctly to go through one.

I use Car Wash mode in a touchless, so I know how to turn that on. But how do you set it up to put it in "Neutral" so that it can be dragged through the wash? Also, how do you communicate what needs to be done to the staff so they don't mess up the truck?

To put it in neutral, above your head, you’ll see the letters of “R,N,D” and hazard “red triangle”, just touch the “N” and it goes into Neutral.

i use a touch wash often, no issues. Now that I have it wrapped, the company said I shouldnt use touch brush car washes with a vinyl wrap (bummer), so now im using touchless.

Everything you need is on the "Controls" screen, which you must open just before entering the car wash. You can put the truck in car wash mode beforehand, as I do, but don't go over nine mph, or else it will exit.

Once in car wash mode, you pull into the tunnel and get ready to press the brake pedal just a bit so you can then press "Enable Free Roll", which is another name for Neutral. There are two other methods to get into Neutral, but this is the easiest one, provided you push the brake pedal very lightly, as most car wash tunnels will have a tractor that engages behind the front driver-side wheel. If you are not in neutral when the roller comes into contact with the back side of the driver-side front wheel, the roller will get pulled under the wheel, as the CT will not let the tire roll unless you are in neutral. I can't tell you how many Tesla owners are not prepared to shift to Neutral where I live, and then you see the driver's side of their car bump up a bit only for them to usually stop the tractor until the driver gets it right.

If you can find a street with a slight downhill grade, practice this on it with nothing in front of you. You will get the hang of it before sitting in front of a car wash tunnel.

what is it going to hurt?
I have a YP and a CT, and the touch car washes make a mess of the clear coat on the YP because the brushes are not clean. The CT is a different story, since even dirty brushes hitting the stainless steel in a totally random pattern will not introduce scratches you can really detect. The downside to touchless is they usually use much stronger chemicals to facilitate the wash, which may affect the plastic materials in various places on the truck.

I wrapped my truck with PPF myself, so I ask them to do a "full retract" 100% of the time in the touch car wash where I live and so far so good. I also have a monthly plan at a touchless car wash and use that one about twice a week, which also includes hand-held variable pressure wands for use in the manual wash bays, which allows me to get under the wheel wells and in the bed of the truck. Basically, my truck remains super clean even though I am off-road in mud, and ditches at construction sites during the week. You would never know given all the options you have with three different types of car wash systems. I figure, for $132K, (TT&T), why not?
