Living off-USA in Panama the grid is seen as a source of power. Yes it goes down alot - 1950’s americana a lot. Recent civil disobedience the grid went down disrupting the event. On purpose by authorities.

Elon should emergency switch Cybertruck future-proofing power other than electrical failure.
Are you exporting the truck or just running it with US plates in Panama?

Musk said the best place to be is either in the first few thousand where they are paying really close attention to detail, or after production is well underway and they have all the bugs worked out.

Which implies the worst time to buy is between between the 10,000 - 100,000 mark. Congrats fellow "worst time to buy" buyer.

You never use more power than that?

Personally, I use alot more power when I'm home than when I'm not.

our house is new and very efficient, no pool, no hot tub, all LED bulbs and energy star appliances. If an outrage occurs we can’t use AC nor oven but we are ok with that. We don’t need very thing in the house running and even a truck will have hard time powering both of my ACs that draw 8kw and takes much more to start. If we eventually switch to heat pump then maybe we will need a bigger pack but for now all we need is 6-7 KWH to get through the night and during the day the solar is more than enough and able to run 1 of the ACs with solar and battery full. If I found the need to run both AC all the time then I’ll get natural gas generator.

biggest problem with powering the house with the truck is the truck is stuck and during extended outrage it will be out too. We do work mostly from home but that won’t always be the case so what happens if I’m not home with the truck? 50k or 70k is a ton of money for a stationary battery pack. I can get entire side of my garage full of batteries for that kind of money and drive to get food still.

why are you so snotty......all I said was I hope they get some of the bugs worked out before I get mine......it doesn't matter when you get a vehicle.....there is always the chance you get a lemon.....yea, the more mature a new design, the better chance of now issues from pre-mature failures or workmanship issues.....hope when your number comes up you get a good one with no issues......

Is this sarcasm? Ogre was saying he's in the same boat as you.

-Crissa
thought he said he was "patiently waiting for 123K"..... meaning he as at 123 and that since o was at ~46k, I was screwed....when he said, "Congrats fellow "worst time to buy" buyer".......maybe I did not understand him.......

I guess I did not get his sarcasm......I apologize to everyone.....meant no disrespect

I am 65,000. Right behind you. I hope my comment about it being a bad time to be in the queue is way off base. Just making light of something Musk said in an interview.

Ford has built it into the Power Adapter to make it easy. Flips between charging and powering the house automatically with outages.
That's gonna cost extra though. I'm not sure all the additional expense is worth it once you consider the electrical upgrades on the house side of things too. But mostly because I don't want a home power backup solution that stops working when I need to drive the truck.
