I owned a 2005 diesel 2500. I track all car expenses digitally and can tell you that diesel definitely costs less in the long run. Cost more to buy, but sold for double what a gas truck would have when I was ready to get rid of it. The CT's capabilities are lower than any diesel truck made in the last 20-ish years.
Yes, the CT is inferior to diesel. Except for horsepower. And torque. And load. And all that other stuff.

The towing capacity of all modern full size diesel trucks is higher than the CT’s. The one ton trucks have more payload capacity, and some 3/4 tons do.

Note I didn’t use judgment language like “inferior.” The numbers speak for themselves, and may or not matter to some people.

Those trucks are not larger than the CT. I compared the numbers a while back and it’s also a full sized truck. A lot of people seem to think it’s a midsize.

Uh-huh.

I doubt this. Also, doesn't matter, since they're literally a different class of truck, in your own description.

There’s no need to either believe me or doubt this, the numbers are easily available. Easy to remember too. The CT is 230x80 inches and a Ram 3500 is almost exactly the same. It will be a better truck for most uses, I was just pointing out that if you compare diesels, they still win on the numbers.

Nah… the diesel wins, ya just can’t do what the diesel does with the CT…. Just can’t happen. I’d even suggest the PB with out perform the CT. The PB will pull the heavy 12,400 trailer a greater distance than the CT. But even the PB can’t do what the diesel does. I’ve pulled a 40 foot fifth wheel across the country more than 6 times while drag racing with AHDRA and the F250 6.0 never let me down.

If your idea of 'wins' boils down to: "Which truck can tow the most and has the greatest towing range."

With nearly every other metric the Cybertruck is better, on most metrics, it is *much* better. Cost of operations is going to be worlds better.

Things I can do with the Cybertruck on the farm:
Load a pallet of feed in the bed and haul it home.
Hook up one of the bumper pull trailers and haul various loads up to the load limit on the CT.
Charge at home and use the battery power for remote use out in the pastures.

Things I can't do with the CT on the farm:
Hook up the gooseneck trailer and go get 14 round bales of hay.
Hook up the gooseneck stock trailer and haul livestock.
Hook up the big bumper pull trailer and move my tractor around.

The Dodge 3500 diesel is impractical for a commute or grocery getting but there are times when you can't live without it. It is also nice to have all that steel around you when dealing with the average knuckle dragging American driver or suicidal deer.
Since there is no money in the budget for a new Dodge 3500 diesel we'll keep patching it up as needed unless we lose an engine.

If Tesla makes a 2 1/2 ton single axle tractor version of the Semi with a minimum of 600 mile actual towing range I'd be a player at 70-80 grand after the CT is paid off.

Yup, combo of max payload & max towing, the Cybertruck is very competitive in specs to many pickups in Ford/GMC/RAM 250/2500 series and exceeds those in 150/1500 series.

------------------------------

Edmunds says:
The 2021 Ram 2500 Tradesman 4dr Crew Cab 4WD SB (6.4ft), 6.7L 6cyl Turbo Turbodiesel, airbag suspension (rear only), NO Rear steer, (MSRP $58,300) is in high demand and frequently selling above MSRP.

MSRP $58,300, 2021 Ram 2500 Tradesman 4dr Crew Cab 4WD SB (6.7L 6cyl Turbo Turbodiesel 6A), airbag suspension (rear only), NO Rear steer
VIN: 3C6UR5CL9MG659858Stock: MG659858
https://www.edmunds.com/ram/2500/2021/vin/3C6UR5CL9MG659858/?radius=6000

------------------------------

add $2,800 Electric Retractable Horizontal Tonneau cover (GatorTrax Aluminum, installed)

add $2,000 Full PPF (since Cybertruck is stainless steel the painted RAM needs this)

If Tesla gets back $7-10K Federal EV tax credit, the Tesla Trimotor Cybertruck crew cab 4x4 6.5ft bed, airbag suspension all 4 wheels, Rear steer, scratch/dent/rust resistant body, larger retractable tonneau cover vault storage, frunk storage, 110v/220V power outlets, similar payload/towing maximums might be cheaper price than the RAM 2500 ICE truck.
