The only remaining question is why does the Ford Raptor cost so much more when it's not even half the truck?
2-4 years from now when Rivians and CTs are roaming the streets, only a few diehard CO2 junkies will look at an ICE raptor. At that time, all your points will make total sense and Ford has probably already announced upcoming electrified Raptor because their ICE version is dying off. Today the feature on any truck that matters the most is that if they actually exist and are available. As of now CT is unable to beat Raptor on that. Note $30K markup. Logic and sense has no place in this market.

RWS!

Before the CT reveal I had my heart set on a new Ford Raptor. The Cybertruck reveal ended my Raptor search in November of 2019.

These trucks are not licensable though right? Nice cheap price but of limited use if it cannot be licensed.

I think it depends on how much a 4 wheel steering delete would complicate the assembly line. If everything in the front is the same and you simply delete the linkage? and replace the rear hub knuckle? with a fixed part. Then I suppose you would have to modify the programing.

Again my thought is the 4 wheel steering will be offered first as a premium option and most people will take it, especially if they can move up in delivery. Then the non 4 wheel steer models will be offered at preorder pricing so Tesla can save face. This would be perfectly honorable in my book.
I'm 100% ok with this IF the non-4WS or non-RWS version has an acceptable turn radius on par with today's 1/2 ton trucks.

But if the non-RWS version has a turning radius in excess of today's 1/2 tons (as I assume it does) then having to buy an option, to meet this industry standard, on an already $70k truck is crap.

Why do you assume that?

Because the only thing we know is that it has a longer wheelbase. All other things being equal, the turning radius would be larger. Then there is the video of it coming off the truck and trying to turn into the showroom. It looked terrible, but it could have just been shitty driving.

Before the CT reveal in 2019 I had my heart set on a new Ford Raptor. My Raptor desire ended immediately once I saw the futuristic Tesla SS wedge?

Longer than what? It looks the same as the F150 with the similar cab.

-Crissa
At one point they had the wheelbase posted and it was longer then the crew cab, 6.5 bed f150.

Yes, because that doesn't have a full sized cab. 149" is only 4" longer. It's 8" shorter than a supercrew which is more in line with the features of a Cybertruck.
