The glass roofs are typically tinted, However this seems to make a lot of sense to my non-engineer mind. A fixed solar roof option seems WAY less complicated and more effective than a roll-up solar tonneau cover.
Maybe under the solar roof there is stored a single piece solar cover for the bed that slides out from under the roof. A thin carbon fiber panel with solar cells on the outside.

That would be much simpler than making solar slats for a rolling cover.

This would also make cabin to vault bed pass-through less complicated to implement.

Do you think that the tonneau cover is now a fixed sliding panel instead of a rolling segments?

Plus Tesla has developed solar glass tiles for house roofs. So I’m sure they could integrate a similar glass embedded solar panel in the roof if it made sense for the vehicle. That would be way more hail resistant and durable than solar stuck on the outside.

A good aftermarket product would be a internal solar shade for the rear roof. The prerequisite for that is the ability to delete the rear roof glass tint and filter.
A dash version would probably work well though, just needs some thought regarding the heat buildup using dark solar panels inside a glasshouse. A telescopic or rollup internal vault cover like solar sunshade for the front windscreen would be perfect, also for camp mode.

It wouldn't be more resistant tha solar stuck on the outside, because it would be solar stuck on the outside?

But yes, they have experience in this realm.

I would be happy with a roll of flexible solar panel in the frunk that could unroll and stretch over entire truck and a few meters more when CT is parked. It would be much more efficient and safe.

Just illustrating what a lot of people have already stated. The rear roof panel is much more offset from the rear doors on this new prototype. To my eyes, the bed is similar size, it just has more of its length covered by the roof. I can see that being a downer for folks with big toys to haul. I hope this has something to do with pass through/fold down rear seat which would be totally worth it for my needs.

For the love of god Elon tell your engineers to stop fixing what is not broken. Just install low profiles wipers arms and wipers, they will basically disappear under the bottom part of the windshield. For what it looks like they are trying to cover much the windshield area which is total unnecessary(not a single car on the market does it).

Good catch on that alignment change. It puts into perspective potentially how much the bed might extend into the previous cab area. If it's the same length as before but with the bed eating into the cab area then that is a good space saving optimization.

The issue with toy hauling isn't so much the bed extending into the roof line cause the roof overhang is probably like 3' or so above the bed floor. Most toys will not contact that overhang. The issue was more so the angled front wall of the bed. Previously the front wall was slanted so that the bed was longer at the floor and shorter at the top of the bed. That meant your toys front tire really couldn't sit flush and use the whole bed length. And if the tire could fit in the slanted area that meant the upper bed wall was interfering with any fender above the wheel.

This new version seems to be more straight of a front wall so as long as the roof overhang is higher than 3' and the bed length is 6-6.5' I'm happy.

The bed area needs to be like the prototype IMO. Also, I see them doing a massive frunk in a coming prototype.

I watched the video a few (dozen) times and noticed that the center info display is rotated towards the passenger.

I also noted that the mirrors are folded in, but at the end of the driving the mirrors fold out as the CT slows down.

I suppose the mirrors could be programmed to fold in at highway speeds, minimizing the aero drag and using the front fender mounted cameras.
