The Cybertruck will be devoid of any type of handles for opening. No door handles, tailgate handle or frunk handle. It’s the first ever for a production vehicle that I know of.

I will be curious to see how Cybertruck owners open the drivers door.

Will the app sense your approach and automatically pop the door open? Will the vehicle use a a biometric fingerprint scan to open the door? Will it pop open when approaching like the Model X?

Pretty sure the rumors were that the handles were at the bottom of the window frame. (although fingerprint scan would be nice for both family and robotaxi so you don’t have to trust anyone with the key)

From what we've seen, it appears that the app senses your phone, and once you touch the finger sensor, it pops the door and inch or so.

I’m going to put pressure sensors in the doors and tailgate so it happens with a good kick, or firm slap of the hand to open. Or if I really want to show off for my friends I’ll ram it with my body.

Theres buttons.
You just push the button
More of a sensor than a button. Similar to how a lot of vehicles sense your touch on the handle and unlock the doors. No moving parts, except of course the window drops a bit and the door gets popped out a bit.

Here is what people are calling buttons. Is the small opening in the middle of it fingerprint reader? Unknown, but it looked to me in the video this came from that Franz swiped his finger down across it. Didnt look like a press to me.

Or maybe the door popper is strong enough to break the door free? Which I can command with the app, I should hope. Or possibly finger sensors are heated?

Hopefully it has same open on approach like the X. In my opinion it’s the best.

Its always seemed similar to me to what Ford did with the Mustang Mach-E. Very similar, just taking it a step further.

Its going to be fun to explain to passengers. Can't wait to explain it to my parents. I have given them rides in my Model 3 for like 5 years now and they still have problems with it! I actually think this will be simpler in some ways.

It will likely be a number of ways to open: approach with phone, card key, and button. The Model X both opens and closes automatically but it appears that the Cybertruck opens more like the Model 3/Y and only partly opens.
