You can find endless options after market. they likely won't be integrated with the truck (screen, lighting), but there will be options.

... L - track ...
Tesla offers OEM L-track for $250, so you don't have to go the aftermarket route. And then you can get all the other OEM L-track accessories too.

The Tesla L-track is marketed as an accessory for RWD Cybertrucks. I'm assuming that it would also fit on the new AWD trim, and that they just haven't updated the page yet.

If you get the OEM L-track, then obviously your next move should be the famous OEM L-track bottle opener. It was standard equipment on the Foundation Series, but it is compatible with all Cybertruck trims, so it's technically possible to add the exact same functionality to non-FS trucks. No idea why some people haven't upgraded yet.

Think we will be able to switch out the standard tail light back to a light bar of some sort or the premium tail light?

My big wish list is the sound system and adding a subwoofer, hoping this can be added on later without too much PIA.

Think we will be able to switch out the standard tail light back to a light bar of some sort or the premium tail light?
I threw the question into AI and directed towards the service manual of the CT.

The Technical Difference
  • Standard AWD: The rear lighting consists of two separate side tail lamp units located on the quarter panels. The horizontal bar running across the tailgate is a non-functional decorative reflector.
  • Premium / Cyberbeast: These models feature a functional Center High-Mounted Stop Lamp (CHMSL) and a full-width LED light bar integrated into the tailgate. This bar illuminates as part of the running lights and brake sequence.
Can You Retrofit the Premium Light Bar?
While you can physically purchase the premium tailgate light assembly, it is not a "plug-and-play" upgrade for the standard model for several reasons found in the service documentation:

  • Wiring Harness Missing: The Standard AWD typically lacks the specific low-voltage wiring harness inside the tailgate required to power and signal the light bar.
  • Software Configuration: Tesla uses Gateway Configs to control vehicle lighting. Even if you hard-wire the light, the vehicle's computer may not recognize the hardware or push power to those pins without a software "push" from Tesla, which they generally do not provide for DIY retrofits.
  • Service Manual Constraints: The Tesla Service Manual lists different part numbers and removal/installation procedures for the "Reflector" (Standard) versus the "Tailgate Lamp Assembly" (Premium).

Base awd needs chmsl by law, so where is it and how is it different than premium?
the difference is the premium tail light has the brighter full length bar when lights are on vs standard which doesn’t have the full length bar. Both models have a brake light strip when brakes are applied. This is a good pic to hopefully explain the difference. (Pic from another forum member)

first pic is a premium with lights on. Second pic will be how the sawd will look when brakes applied but when lights are on you’ll only see the left and right tail lights.
