I’m curious if any of you have seen one of these actually installed on a truck and what your impressions were.
I feel like I’ve been hearing about this “just around the corner” vaporware being kickstarted or whatever for a couple of years now and even gave them some money at one time but nothing concrete has come of it.

Website says q2 2026 but based on past experience just seems like it’s going to change to quarter 3 at some point.

Cybertruckco is a great company in my experience and they have this panel for sale for the roof glass and tonneau but details are sparse and I wonder if any of you have seen what it actually looks like and how it folds.
A friend here in Arizona bought the frunk one and it’s very nice, but it’s a bit heavy for the frunk motor and produces much less power than I thought based on the specs even in our sunny state.

please share if you know about either of these or an alternative.

ROI on this can be measured in centuries. And that's not even accounting for the aero drag so... Why???
I suppose if you were parked for a long time where the wind didn't blow and needed to counter any vampire drain, it seems one of these could prevent that. But, it also seems if you drove to that place any distance that you'd lose more electrons through drag vs. what you'd gain. I suppose under ideal conditions, you could gain 5KwH after being parked for a day.

I mean if someone wants it... go for it. For me I can find better ways to spend 3,800 dollars

Yeah, good luck spending that $3,800 somewhere else where you'd make (checks math) $0.60 a day in electricity, sucker. You just wait 17 years, 128 days, and 8 hours and we'll see who's laughing then.

note: This will require that I never drive during the daylight hours, park in the shade, drive fast enough to increase my aerodynamic drag or else I'll have to add a few days to my planned domination)

NERD Alert:

BLUF: The topper will affect range by approximately 4%.

Step 1: Topper Frontal Area
Topper dimensions: 6" × 72" → 0.1524 m × 1.8288 m
ΔA≈0.1524×1.8288≈0.278 m²ΔA≈0.1524×1.8288≈0.278m²
Cybertruck baseline frontal area: A≈2.6 m²A≈2.6 m²
Relative increase:
ΔAA≈0.2782.6≈0.107≈10.7%AΔA≈2.60.278≈0.107≈10.7%
Step 2: Impact on Energy Consumption
Aerodynamic drag increases roughly linearly with frontal area at highway speeds. Empirical estimates suggest 10–11% extra frontal area yields ~4% range reduction under highway driving conditions.
Step 3: Adjusted Range Calculation
Starting range: Rbase=315 milesRbase=315 miles
Estimated reduction: 4% →
ΔR≈315×0.04≈12.6 milesΔR≈315×0.04≈12.6 miles
New estimated range:
Rnew=Rbase−ΔR≈315−12.6≈302 milesRnew=Rbase−ΔR≈315−12.6≈302 miles
Step 4: Considerations & Caveats
  1. Speed dependency: Highway driving magnifies drag losses; in city driving the effect will be smaller.
  2. Topper design: Aerodynamic shaping could slightly offset drag increase.
  3. Weight: Negligible effect for a standard topper (~<20 lbs).
  4. Environmental factors: Wind, temperature, and tire pressure remain relevant variables in real-world range.
Conclusion
For a Cybertruck with a starting range of 315 miles, adding a 6" × 72" topper is expected to reduce the range by roughly 13 miles

I see it differently, it just shows how inefficient and how short range the truck is in real life. No one wants to acknowledge it, but always come up with weird ways to extend the range to a reasonable real-life condition. One tows a gas generator, others want to cover the top with a ridiculous panel, and so on.

I could put it into my PCS repair fund, since my warranty ends in 22 mo 😭

It's a nice idea, in theory, but the range loss due to having a draggy RTT-sized box on your roof will negate any charge benefits. Two steps to charge isn't ideal, but you could do your 2nd idea, if it were a real product. I mean, how is that tonneau going to work? I know there are tonneau chargers, but that seems impractical.

Now, if you are driving a Model 3 or Y, this ecoflow to charge your powerbank seems far more aero:

And, then if you have a camper top, on top of your Cybertruck, like I do, then you could fit 3 of these Lensun 200w flex panels and get 600w. Or, if you have a RTT, you could put 2 of these on, like in the image.

Edit: Okay, I looked closer at the image in the cybertruckco page and it seems to show the rear tonneau charger sits above the Cybertruck's tonneau. Or at least, that's how it looks to me:

Yeah it does. And I think they actually are Lensun panels. A whole kw if you include the frunk top it sounds like. I’m just wondering g if anyone has anything other than a diagram of this.
@CYBERTRUCKco have you guys installed these on a truck for anyone yet?

We have ours coming in in 4 weeks, we'll make videos and show testing once they arrive!

This guys video makes me think there could be some legs to this, what we made the parts.

Absolutely. I’ve watched all his stuff too. I have two delta pro 3’s and a bluetti b300 which can all do 240v. I’m most of the way there. Right now I have ground solar panels but something that runs continuously would be pretty handy. Really want to try make this happen but not super pumped about being a guinea pig. My use case is particularly suited to this scenario because of my stubborn persistence with the cybertent. No rack.
The back panels are supposed to fold right? Not attached to the tonneau cover itself?
so you fold the cover and fit them in the rail for it or what?
I’m thinking if they are easily removable and practical you’re gonna sell a ton of them eventually. Agree it has legs.

yes, the rear drops down when you close the tonneau cover, and then you can fold them up.

Sell a ton of them... Unlikely based on solar hood panel sales.

FYI, the solar hood panel you mentioned is getting less than the 160w quoted, what battery are you going into with what cables? Check the cables, that may be your issue.

My friend just uses it now to power a lithium battery which I think came from t-sportline in his frunk that has lots of cranking power for his winch. In broad daylight in Arizona direct sunlight I’ve seen him get about 80-100w at best. Maybe he’s done better since I last looked. That’s definitely not bad when you have the benefit of time on your hands. Not knocking on the product, just trying to convey what it seems to do in the real world.
Maybe you’re right, maybe it takes larger cabling but it’s not really that high amperage/ low voltage of a situation. We can ask him, he’s on here. What kind of cabling are you using @CT_AZ_4x4 ?

@CYBERTRUCKco , I stand corrected. Seems it has improved for him and he’s very happy with the panel.
Here is what he had to say:
“On a good day over 150 watts peak. Overnight the drain is usually about 15% sometimes 20%. Every day that I’ve had the panels the battery has been recharged to 99 or 100% except for a 3-day rain period but even then I did not have to charge using the frunk 48V accessory feed. I just waited for sunlight and then made sure the frunk was aligned with the sun for maximum wattage.”
