I've tested ignoring the "take over immediately" alert when I first got it last year. It continued steering but tried slowing down. I pushed down on the accelerator and it continued to maintain speed while still steering. I gave up after 5 minutes of it beeping and it of course, gave me a strike.
If I get bored, I'll test it again and maybe record it for you.
I've noticed with this new v14, if you press on the accelerator too much during sharp turns, it no longer steers more aggressively and will cause you to fail to maintain your lane worse than v13. She could have also just mashed the accelerator while in FSD. The same outcome would have happened.
You could be right. Perhaps the behavior after the "take over immediately" warning varies based on the reason it popped up. For example if there is an issue with the camera(s) it obviously cannot continue to steer. However if the issue is caused by a temporarily loss of communication with a different component (like the brakes, regen or GPS) it could continue to steer.
I'm my experience in our Model Y, it has left the lane when the warning popped up. It stopped happening after a recent update, but at one point I was getting the error 4 times a day, so I got used to it's behavior. It also starts to leave the lane in the video I previously attached.
