You know what I didn't see? A casting. Obviously there may still be one, but it's not visible.

I also didn't see any hydraulics going to the wheels. Brembo brakes?

Right on Jow.
Red, green, yellow, and blue, with red being the primary subframe or cradle. We will see how well this all BENDS.....

Now we know why they have so many painter jobs advertised.

The suspension parts will be painted different colors coded by function :)

Does anyone know what that is (silver) crossing the red X right in the middle, seemingly tying the control arms together ? It almost looks like chain with turn buckles on it.

Some kind of adjustment?

the truck moves down the crash lane by being pulled with a cable and propulsion system (which at Tesla’s facility is powered by two Tesla motors :) )

the cable is attached to the truck by that hardware you’re describing, and the cable then passes through the floor via that channel that obstructs the center of the photo

here’s a video from the IIHS that’s interesting for not only showing the propulsion system, but also for describing tests they did to ensure their system would accommodate the heavier EVs coming to market - they took old “junkers” and loaded them with thousands of pounds only to ensure the system would work with heavier vehicles



The results of the test shown in this video using an old F150 have elsewhere in this forum been provided as being some evidence that traditional trucks aren’t safe with loads in the back. That may or may not be true, but these tests weren’t intending to test the truck at all but instead the propulsion system. (Securing cargo is a good idea, and placing unsecured massive concrete blocks on slippery stainless plates is a widowmaker for sure)

Not everything in this crash test is going to be in the final. It could be something strapped to the undercarriage for testing purposes. Looks very ad-hock.
