Yeah, pretty crappy. But it’s Tesla and that’s what they do. Unfortunately they make an amazing product so it’s take it or leave it with them. The only damage you could probably get from them would be that $250 order fee, but then they’ll probably just refund it then.
I saw this notice as well and for a brief couple of hours I was considering cancelling my PDM order and saving the $20K. If i had done that and then Tesla pulled back on the free FSD transfer from my Model Y, I would have been very pissed.
That's absolutely true before an order is placed but ... after an order is placed based upon those clearly stated conditions?
Your $250 down is not placing an order. It's a reservation. Tesla has historically changed items for people after the reservation fee is placed and said that they have the customer ability to cancel or reject delivery.
It's reasonable to say it wasn't malicious intent on Tesla's part but rather just them being incompetent. Who should pay the price for the incompetence ... the buyer?
Many at Tesla have said that they changed the verbiage because of the massive amount of SAWD orders. These are Service and Sales employees (so they could be playing a bad game of telephone), but they were very vocal about it when it occurred.
Went to bed last nite thinking it was gonna be another 3-5 months and woke up to a vin and delivery Saturday.

You are giving me hope . My sc is NC as well and order date feb21st . So far bot is saying 2027 delivery estimate.Best of luck to the 59k crew! Hope everyone gets their deliveries quicker than expected.

IANAL but if you did sue, the court’s aim is to make you whole, which in this case would probably just be a refund of your $250 because that’s the loss you have suffered.
