Waymo will beat Tesla FSD because of LIDAR

You miss my point. To say "there is no AI" presumes that there's a way to prove it. How is cognition achieved, and how do you test for it? If it can't be distinguished from human behavior, does it matter what you label it? Intelligence is on a spectrum. One can only compare one form of...

Waymo will beat Tesla FSD because of LIDAR

I'm not so sure. What constitutes artificial intelligence? Alan Turing defined artificial intelligence (AI) as the ability of a computer to mimic human responses under certain conditions. Turing is best known for his work on the Turing Test, which is a benchmark for machine intelligence. It's...

Waymo will beat Tesla FSD because of LIDAR

Exactly! And further, Waymo vehicles are not something you can personally use or own. I can't purchase an iPace equipped with Waymo hardware for personal use or to join the Waymo network to generate an income stream. And if I could, it would cost $100k - $150K per vehicle (we don't know how...

Public REACTIONS to Your Cybertruck (and Your Reaction)? [Admin Warning: NO POLITICS]

Hater: Looks like a car my 4 year old would draw. Me: I'm embracing my inner child.

    Cybertruck vs Hummer: Owner's Review

Good review. The Hummer has some neat features but engineering wise, the CT is far superior. And it shows in the sales . . . Hummer sales 13,017 through Sept 2024 (31 mo) compared to CT's 27,000+ (10 mo)

Waymo will beat Tesla FSD because of LIDAR

I wish someone would drop a Waymo car off in front of my house and instruct it to take me to anywhere. Make it easy. Take me to the Jewel Foods store a couple blocks away. It won't even get to the end of the block if it moves at all. Waymo cars have absolutely no understanding of the...

Can I get a little help, any chance someone can measure tailgate height closed?

A quick check at Entry Mode is 51" increasing to 58" at the center of the rear wheel.

Tesla Cybertruck vs Arctic Ocean - Electrifying the Dempster Highway

I thoroughly enjoyed watching the video accounts of this epic adventure. My dream is to take my CT to Denali Nat'l Park, Alaska. This trip was most inspiring.

Towing where there are no chargers.... Flagstaff AZ to Kingman AZ

I don't tow, but I'm faced with this problem when driving off the beaten path out west and on off-road adventures where Cybertruck efficiency can be quite low. Range anxiety often becomes real when Tesla's range estimates can't be relied upon. I found that taking along a dual-fuel generator...

Did hurricane Helene change your (or household) view on Powershare?

I installed a battery backup system a couple of years ago to supplement my 6.8kW PV solar system. Rather than install Powershare at an install cost of $3160, I installed a generator inlet (using CT as generator) to supplement my house battery when grid failure is prolonged. The advantage to...

    Does Your Tonneau Leak?

My tonneau didn't leak at all for months, but now it does because the cover somehow became misaligned leaving a gap at the top on the driver's side for water to get in. Calibrating the tonneau cover (Service menu) doesn't correct the misalignment. I'll have to take it into my SC one of these days.

Does your FSD pull into a business or home driveway?

It does make sense. FSD is not a deterministic system, it's stocastic.

WTF Got 1st FSD STRIKE already .. just 3 days

You don't have to "firmly grip" the steering wheel. You have to apply a very small amount of torque to wheel. I would simply rest my hand at 5 or 7 o'clock on the wheel to apply a sufficient amount of torque. You can still do so to satisfy the FSD attention monitor.

Using Side Cameras in Place of Side Mirrors and Installing Aftermarket Side Camera Monitoring System

They're decent cameras, configurable to 720p by default or 1080p by cutting a wire loop on the bottom of the camera. I kept 720p since the monitor is so small, and I'm not trying to make out license plate numbers. The monitor and camera are 5Vdc. The kit comes with a 12Vdc to 5Vdc cigarette...

Using Side Cameras in Place of Side Mirrors and Installing Aftermarket Side Camera Monitoring System

I don't find the existing 3-camera display an adequate solution for these reasons: 1) The 3-camera display has to be configured on every drive. It defaults to the front camera, not the rear camera. 2) With the 3-camera display present, the map display along with trip ETA, miles remaining...

Using Side Cameras in Place of Side Mirrors and Installing Aftermarket Side Camera Monitoring System

I completely agree. Unfortunately, the timeline for NHTSA to issue new regulations on this subject is open ended. There are camera systems (e.g., MirrorEye) for tractor trailer rigs that have been approved as a replacement for mirrors and, apparently, supersede existing state mirror statutes...
