Solar panel that cover entire back half of the truck - any interest

Yes, I pondered this matter, and came to the conclusion that it was worth installing the solar panel. The panel and extra weight didn't reduce efficiency much at all over and above the efficiency hit of the bed rack and tent which I justified for camping instead of sleeping in the vault. As you...

Solar panel that cover entire back half of the truck - any interest

This approach requires a bed rack, of course. Urander makes this one. I mounted the solar power station (batteries, charge controller, inverter) inside the bed rack in a ventilated metal enclosure. The plastic box on the back is where 12 and 24V connections are made (refrigerator, A/C...

Solar panel that cover entire back half of the truck - any interest

I installed a 420W solar panel, charge controller, battery and inverter to supply 12/24Vdc and 120Vac power for off grid camping/over-landing. The system has two 100Ah 12V LFP batteries wired in series (2.4kWh), a 20A Renogy Rover charge controller and a 1000W pure sinewave inverter capable of...

Overland Trip to Alaska - Follow For Updates

I remember reading somewhere that the little button is a UL required safety feature on the combo adapter. When pushed in, it signals that the DC pins are not exposed. If that's the case, taping the button down wouldn't prevent Level 2 charging. In my opinion, there's nothing to be gained by...

It's also true that the A2Z is only designed for DC charging. Their adapter will accept a combo connector, but the J1772 terminals are missing. That's why the flap over the DC terminals is not present. My Hansshow Cybertruck adapter wouldn't accept the Flo connector, as I've said, but I don't...

Anyone try Cybertruck CCS Charger Adapter by Hansshow?

There were a couple of reasons for aborting the trip. The inability to connect to BC Hydro and Flo fast chargers, colder than expected temps, and tending to my Model Y at home that was not charging a low battery. I have not found anyone who has successfully used a Cybertruck CCS1 to NACS...

Anyone try Cybertruck CCS Charger Adapter by Hansshow?

The REMA CCS1 connector has a hood over the latching mechanism that is angular in shape, not curved like all the CT adapters I've seen: The angular points on the connector bind on the CT adapter inlet (this on from Hansshow): The S3XY adapters have a more angular shaped latch inlet which...

Good quality CCS adapter for Cybertruck

I experienced the REMA tight fit on a Hansshow CT adapter on Flo chargers in BC, Canada. The fit was so tight I needed help from a guy nearby to separate the charger connector from the adapter.

Overland Trip to Alaska - Follow For Updates

I’m disappointed to say that we cut our Alaska trip short. Traveling to Alaska in an all-electric vehicle, and especially driving a single Cybertruck in the month of May, was challenging for us. Despite our decision to abort the trip just north of Banff, BC, I think the attempt was valuable for...

We've set off on our epic adventure to Alaska in our Cybertruck AWD. Our first stop was Zion National Park, Utah. It was basically a drive-thru experience for use. Beautiful rock cliffs surrounding the paved road from the west entrance to the east. We camped north of the park on BLM land off...

Cooking from a 20 lb bottle. Charging from a 30 lb bottle. Although there are plenty of CCS and J1772 chargers available on the trip, there will be times when a charger is out of service or being used by another EV. That's when having a generator, even supplying only 24A (2880W), is nice to have.

Dawson City is a destination on our clockwise travel route. Heading north to Tuktoyaktuk is definitely a possibility depending on time and stamina.

As many as it takes, but at least a month. A lot will depend on the weather. May and early June usually means less rain, bugs, and people, but it will be colder.

Overland Trip to Alaska - Follow For Updates

In just a week, partner and I will embark on our epic trip to Alaska starting from Havasu, AZ. It's taken a whole year of planning equipment, travel route, charging strategy, etc. The equipment includes a Urander bed rack with an Inspired Overland carbon fiber rooftop tent. I added a 420W...
