Just wondering if anybody here has a picture of their Tesla backup switch and emergency shut off button installation on a load center that's flush mounted.
I'm not sure the best way to run data cable that connects the collar and emergency shutdown switch to the Powerwall dog collar.
Was just...
I'm sure they'd crack down on that pretty quick, seeing seeing cars with almost zero miles charging up to full repeatedly.
At the same time, I'm surprised somebody's not offering a service, to bring their EV to your house and dump extra power. :)
Hey man, where'd you get that power? It fell...
I had actually talked to friends and family about that. If we have fires again and the power's out for a long time. I can go fill up the truck and bring back power. I do imagine that being painful in that scenario though everybody trying to do the same thing.
I think you have the powershare gateway currently and that won't work with solar.
FYI, I don't think you don't need the universal wall connector if you have a powerwall 3. The universal wall connector was only needed with the powershare gateway, but it does give you the extra adapter if...
They're supposed to be installing a SPAN IO panel today and I look forward to being able to see more about what's using what in the house.
My heat pump, water heater and heat pump HVAC both appear to use about 500 w or so when they're actively running. When the HVAC's not running the heat pump...
Yeah, without a dedicated connection from the truck to the powerwall, I'm guessing there's no way for that to work.
But the powerwall can be charged from utility power or power that's in the house and the powershare from the EV could become that, when the utilities out. So if the output of the...
Wow, that's a lot of baseline power draw. The lowest my house gets is 300 w and that's from, I believe, all the security cameras and media players and networking hardware. That's just always on.
During the day when the HVAC heat pump is running and the water heaters, heat pump is running and I...
When I asked them about it, they said in this scenario the truck would never be powering the house directly. It would be feeding power to the powerwall when the powerwall was low or out of charge and then that would be powering the house. But just because someone at Tesla told me that doesn't...
You had said that a PowerShare gateway was required with the backup switch. That doesn't appear to be the case.
Sorry, not sure where the confusion is but I have the powerwall 3 with a backup switch with solar. I asked them if the universal connector was needed for powershare and then they...
I pressed this with them on multiple occasions and they told me that it would work without a PowerShare gateway. I haven't given them a payment yet so maybe I shouldn't? Then if you use the PowerShare gateway, you can't have solar. It would seem they need some way of doing both moving forward...
I went back and forth with Tesla over this for over a year and had multiple account advisors. I was told many different things, so it's very confusing.
Their end game is to sell a Powerwall 3 or greater with a backup switch and be able to do everything. There are various issues with the various...
My understanding is that the universal charger is only required for powershare with the gateway. If they ever enable powershare with the powerwall 3 directly, you can use the regular wall adapter.
Still no word on when this will be available. At least it's still listed in the app as being a...
Yeah, I was just gonna go ahead and have them change it to the universal charger as some had said that it comes with an adapter and has a pass through to make it easier to add another charger but I'm thinking I would just run another circuit off the panel in the garage if I added another charger...
A few folks have mentioned that in the PW3>Backup Switch setup, do not require the Universal Wall Connector. I have also found some posts where folks are having trouble using the Universal Wall Connector when the regular one works fine in certain scenarios.
It looks like the only thing...
Those are expensive options but they're just not something I would ever buy. It came with the all weather floor mats and that's kind of the extent of my accessory buying for new vehicles.
The only maybe, would be the wrap. I just don't like the idea of how expensive it is to wrap one of the...
There's just nothing in the shop that I want. It looks like I could get the charger and they also showed that you could buy a gateway and charger combo (Tesla Powershare Home Backup Bundle $2,500) but I don't need those for a solar install. I could ask the Tesla project manager if I can purchase...
I was also able to see that it shows I have until 05-2026 to use the credit. That would be like 2 years from purchase. If you click on the pay moment options it show the expiration date.
This would be my setup with the backup switch. So you don't need the gateway or the universal wall charger in that scenario? So that must be why the design team didn't include it. Is there any other reason to choose the universal wall charger over the other?
Thanks for the info.
