Tips and best practices for a first time EV owner?!

No. It really doesn’t save much time. Unless you’re running late or on a strict time crunch, then in my opinion, I don’t think an extra 15-20 minutes at the SC is too much of an inconvenience. Especially on a long road trip like the one I took from LA to New Orleans and back! After 200 to 250...

Wow... 2,700 Mile Roadtrip Dallas to Orlando in Cyberbeast

Yeah, no babying it for me other than keeping it in Chill Mode 90% of the time and setting TACC to whatever the speed limit is… On any given SoCal day, it’s actually closer to 380-400 Wh/mi for local trips between ~25-100 miles. But for really long trips 100-200+ miles or more, ~450 Wh/mi is...

Wow... 2,700 Mile Roadtrip Dallas to Orlando in Cyberbeast

Los Angeles to New Orleans Numbers… Trip B is on the return leg. Trip A includes the first ~1800 miles of ownership plus the LA to NO round trip. It seems like ~450 Wh/mi is the right number for planning purposes. In my case it included segments through AZ with temps at 110º F, Texas where it...

Solar panels and battery to get unlimited range ...

Bottom line, DIY and pick a part solar solutions are not likely to be practical to charge a CT in a reliable way.

Tips and best practices for a first time EV owner?!

Try not to pay attention to the “range” in miles and instead focus on the battery %. Just like many ICE vehicles have an analog gas gauge and you “just know” at 1/4 or 1/8th of a tank to fill up. It will help to avoid range anxiety. You will quickly get an idea of how far you can go. For me I...

    Cybertruck FSD wishful thinking.

From experience, take anything about Autopilot or FSD with a grain of salt. You’ll get it when you get it. That could be tomorrow, or it could be years away. That’s just the nature of cutting edge tech and modern companies wanting to promote their products and services as early as possible to...

    What's your lifetime Wh/mi?

This includes a road trip from Los Angeles to New Orleans and back where speed limits are as high as 80 MPH through Texas! Temps between AZ and Texas were as high as 112° and HVAC is always running at 68°-72°. Sentry Mode is always on for me.

Solar panels and battery to get unlimited range ...

Solar options cannot be counted on to manage vampire drain. I say again, solar cannot be counted on to manage vampire drain. That’s because even if you have the best possible integrated system, you can’t be certain about the weather and environment. That means sometimes it will work, but often...

Solar panels and battery to get unlimited range ...

This DIY option is not practical for the scenario described in the OP. You could certainly try it. But even if it worked, a slight environmental change could negate any benefit. This is especially important if your operating the truck close to the limit of it’s range. The results of a “bad day”...

Solar panels and battery to get unlimited range ...

“As long as you keep getting mostly sunny days?” There is no way you or anyone can forecast weather with that kind of certainty. All it would take is an unexpected haze, fog, rain, clouds, extreme hot/cold and if you’re way out in the middle of nowhere with an empty battery, you’d be stuck or...

Solar panels and battery to get unlimited range ...

This is an example of trying to be right. Now let’s see how many Cybertruck owners are realistically going to take their vehicle and vanish into the “boondocks” for a longer than a few weeks? If this is a real worry why not just buy a ICE vehicle and never need to worry about charging? Some of...

Solar panels and battery to get unlimited range ...

It’s a Tesla thing if you’re trying to do calculations for a specific model. Getting it wrong can get you stuck or worse. For CT it’s not a good idea to assume 400 Wh/mi in a scenario like the OP described.

Solar panels and battery to get unlimited range ...

No the issue is you made a bad assumption that I didn’t read your post when I fact I did. Then you got offended that I called your numbers for miles per day wildly optimistic… https://www.cybertruckownersclub.com/forum/threads/solar-panels-and-battery-to-get-unlimited-range.18699/post-339836 I...

Solar panels and battery to get unlimited range ...

My point exactly… No need to carry around a science project and “hope” literally the sun, Moon and stars line up just right so that you can charge.

Solar panels and battery to get unlimited range ...

If you could help me out, you would have. Instead the numbers make the answer to the OPs question quite obvious. But if you think you have a better way to do it, show us what you got!

Solar panels and battery to get unlimited range ...

Yes it’s a fact that you created the strawman. But that’s not what I’m talking about. Instead I’m assessing the technical merits of using solar panels to give CT unlimited range per the OP. The answer is that while technically possible, it’s neither practical, cost effective or safe. That’s it...

I think you need to re-read the OP. At no point did it say to counter normal vampire drain. Nice strawman though.
