The term that pops into my head is "Jack of all trades, master of none"
as for the towing aspect. electric motors are high torque units and can pull a lot of weight, the limiting factor may not be the towing (or pulling) capacity, but the stopping capacity. Remember there the more weight the...
I wonder what is going on with the CT prototype? We were seeing many pictures, videos, etc out there of sightings.
However since the static display of it at the museum, it has disappeared from public view. I have not seen any new footage of it in a while.
Could this mean they have dismantled...
I am dubious if Tesla will do this stateside. Only reason i say so is Wrap durability. Does not last nearly as long as paint. You can imagine the youtube videos and consumer complaints when the wraps start peeling in a few short years. You can get away with a lot more in China than you can here.
I am looking at the current Tesla page.....every vehicle is now dual motor. Not 1 is available in a single motor configuration anymore (which were the least expensive models)
Every single motor version has been discontinued. Will this happen to the CT considering the low volume of Single Motor...
I doubt this highly. They will most likely offer the new batteries in the Semi, roadster, and CT (maybe a refreshed model X which is way overdue for one). It does not make sense to put them in current production vehicles.
The fact that Tesla has signed another 3 year deal with Panasonic (which...
I would say this does not apply to the CT. They are making it from stainless steel, armor glass, and will have the new million mile battery....sound like they want you to have it for the long haul to me.
I agree though, technology does change rapidly and a vehicle so focused on tech needs to...
I am quite curious how robotaxi will operate.
unless the vehicle controls (IE Steering brakes, etc) are disabled in some fashion, what would stop someone from sitting behind the wheel and purposefully crashing a vehicle.
unless I am mistaken there are still mechanical linkages between the...
Tesla has 2 big hurdles they need to overcome right now.
A) Delivery
The new factory in Austin will assist with this, IF it's up and running by the times they think it will be. The schedule is extremely ambitious.
I don't see this facility being for any model Y production though, Tesla...
Optimism is nice to have but reality is usually more disappointing.
let's look at a timeline for just a sec.
it's July 2020, so to meet a rollout of the CT by end of 2021 thats less than 18 months away.
in that 18 months you have to: (an pray none are held up for any reason)
Buy the land
get...
there are sensors that do this electronically. We use something in aviation called AHRS (Altitude Heading Reference System) sensors which tell us altitude, pitch, yaw, direction and speed. in a small sensor about the size of a watch battery. There is a simpler version of this in most smartphones...
I agree, the techniques they used for the model 3 should not be a benchmark for success. The model 3 suffered from fit and finish issues just as much as earlier models. The prototype CT also suffered from fit and finish issue (IE look at how the lines don't line up on the doors vs fenders) Tesla...
I doubt they will do anything CT out of the freemont plant. It has been optimized for model 3 and Y production and it does not make alot of sense to retool it for the CT. What will more likely happen is the CT will be out of a new facility or one that can be easily retooled because it will not...
if only SC could retract their own cables and the vehicles could eject their charging cables when fully charged and then FSD to a parking spot to await you to summon them.
Once FSD comes to being this may be an option.....and a cool one LOL
the only issue i could see would be range. If the car would have to charge between your place and the starting point. For example, i live about 3 hours away from a tesla service center.
