Honestly this is the most ridiculous thread about the Cybertruck in quite some time.
11 pages of people whining about it being … the second largest frunk of any vehicle out there. And quite possibly the widest. When there’s a 6 foot bed behind them.
And people complaining that they may need to...
Actually the S and X have a backup physical control. My understanding is the 3 has too. But it’s a touch button area and awkwardly placed so doesn’t solve the shortcomings of not having the stalk.
All I can say is that, respectably, you are wrong on both accounts. Many have complained about the Model S system. Indeed there are people who ended up not buying after driving with it. It’s easy to believe as the lack of physical wiper controls on the Model 3 was already a nuisance.
There is...
The lack of stalks is a huge negative, as it will be for the Cybertruck. That can potentially be a deal breaker. Also sad to see the amount wood disappear. The new look makes it feel more clinical.
Disappointing to see the prices have not dropped, despite being apparently cheaper to...
Given how frequently that tail gate is shown off, maybe that’s an actual design choice? Admittedly one might consider it an odd one, but it seems like many or all are like that.
These vehicles represent a genuine mystery to me. None of the running theories make complete sense. The odd markings on the door, the random bits of sticky plastic, the taped front, the grubbiness around the edges. What’s going on?
If it was some protective film you’d expect to see remnants of...
I actually agree. Frequently powered boot covers seem more trouble than they’re worth. They’re actually slower than just slamming it the old way. Plus more difficult to compress when packed to the brim. I’d be happy with a non powered one, as long as there’s an easy button to open it and it’s...
Those measurements aren’t right. The Cybertruck is much smaller than that.
Having said that it is definitely a long vehicle for many markets. Rumour is around 5.7m. The width is also a tad awkward but roughly in line with large SUVs and vans. Many largeish vans are also as long or longer, but...
This however breaks one of the fundamentals of good UI design. Things should stay in the state explicitly set, and mode change should be predictable. What you describe means the automation is not actually useful as you will have to constantly check it anyway and it also quickly becomes a...
I hope not! Or it’s going to be lots of fun on the motorway when a loss of electricity happens.
But then the same also applies to steer by wire and brake by wire…
It’s not low end due to it being an EV, which currently disqualifies it from that category. But in terms of EVs, everything we have seen points to it being made to be affordable. The Gigapress chassis, the basic interior, the dull materials. There are things that add cost, as mentioned, but I...
