There are plenty of 48 volt nominal input buck converters on the market. That looks like it would be a reasonable one.
For most '12 Volt' car devices, you actually want around 13.8 Volts, because that's the voltage you typically see when an ICE vehicle is running. Most converters either...
I looked at some photos of the structure under the stainless skin. And I'm thinking about the rear hitch failure that that YouTube idiot made a fortune on. That failure was from a very significant impact, not from too much of a pull (tension), so anything that applies a torque or shear force...
My understanding has always been that a plow of any reasonable size needs to be mounted to the frame, preferably with some sort of plate or multi-point attachment system that will distribute the impact load. Plowing is pretty brutal on pickup trucks and anyone serious about doing it will say...
This is NOT the one I was recalling, but looks like it might be worth investigating...:

This is close to what I recall...
On public roads? Is it street legal or are you just... careful... of when it's powered on? 😎
Using the touch screen to power it on and off would get old pretty fast. 🤔
What is the light pattern like in front of you? And how likely is it that the LEDs will survive winter road bullets? I don't imagine it comes with a good cover for when not in use?
Yeah, I feel your pain. It isn't always a problem, but when it is, it really is.
The stock lights sit fairly low. I'd want aftermarket lights to be at least that high, ideally a little higher. I'm not really interested in the added weight and drag of a bull bar bumper system. So I've done...
I'm not sure whether having two is really necessary. How often would you be required to pull from the other side, recognizing a bumper mount winch is fixed in one position? Maybe to add a snatch block and pull from both sides, but other than that...
The $300 price is silly. Especially given...
So many gadgets and toys. I'd spend most of my time digging through totes trying to find the widget that snogerizes the thingmabobbie.
And all that to sit in a gravel parking area that looks like it's just below a railway track. A well put together video, but not my idea of camping.
It's more nuanced than that, but I guess in a way that's a reasonable takeaway.
The half m V squared thing is the equation for kinetic energy. Double the V (velocity) and you have 4 times as much energy stored in the mass (truck). In order to stop, you need to shed that energy, via the brakes...
I, for one, have not heard much of anything about this story since the initial claims of the owner. If it was anything mechanical that could be blamed on Tesla, the haters and media would have blown this into a raging inferno. So I'm still leaning towards operator error.
From what I could see...
Mine pulled over and stopped for a firetruck, approaching from behind...in heavy traffic, the dark and torrential rain.
It also saw a large cube van back out of a driveway on the other side of a signalized intersection. My truck stopped before entering the the intersection, even though the cars...
Do you think this is a problem with every truck produced? I've noticed that my interior door panel vibrates very significantly at speeds over 100 kmh, but I haven't really noticed noise (unless what I took to be road noise is this). Mirror seems relatively stable too. Wondering if I should be...
Yes, definitely an issue I've seen. I'm also not thrilled with it signalling for a lane change when next to another car. If the little blindspot light is on, that should be a sign that lane changing isn't possible, so why signal your intent to sideswipe the car next to you?
I agree with the lane change concern. Typically too early and looks like you're going to sideswipe someone because they're in your usual Blindspot. Similar with signaling for corners. Again too early and often looks like you're planning to turn into a driveway before reaching the intersection...
Not really a Saved my Ass event, but pretty incredible all the same.
Visiting Victoria to look after some family stuff and this happened during the huge rainfall event that cut off my route home (but that's another story... 🤦♂️).
