  1. ? Quad Motor Cybertruck and Crab Walk (Independent Front & Rear Wheel Steering) Confirmed!!

Elon said initial production would be quad. He previously said they would likely produce tri and dual first given the breakdown of preorders. Sounds like a delay to me. However, I also said I would wait for more information. I think the quad is cool, but this appears to be bad news for me.
  2. Battery Leak

Well, not so much cherry picking, just pointing out that the additional waste heat advantage of ICE cars is also a disadvantage. Tesla also uses waste heat it just has less of it. That is indeed offset by the fact that there is a vampire drain on the battery. What is the magnitude of this...
  3. ? Quad Motor Cybertruck and Crab Walk (Independent Front & Rear Wheel Steering) Confirmed!!

I was incensed when I saw the news. My first thought was “fuck you Musk”. I’ve waited this long for a $69K trimotor and prepared to wait until late 2022 to get it, having held a reservation since a few days after it’s initial announcement to now find out I haveto wait even longer. To avoid the...
  4. Battery Leak

Well that side effect was because it's inefficient to begin with so it's actually not free, it's much worse, it's permanently less efficient every moment it's in operation.
  5. Tesla popup factories to speed Cybertruck to market

Agreed... I find that confusing too. Those new factories are good for millions of vehicles each. Musk even said himself they won't be working on another gigafactory immediately. Perhaps they have a roadmap calling for more, but that's a couple of years down the road.
  6. Tesla popup factories to speed Cybertruck to market

I love the idea of the truck, but I don't really need it. I want to take the kids camping in it, but that will be infrequent. If the price goes up too much I may as well buy a Model S. At that point I'll probably return to a Model Y Performance, although I'd love to get the 4680 based one, it...
  7. Tesla popup factories to speed Cybertruck to market

I'll believe GM's BS when I see it. If they start deliveries it will be low volume... I don't think anyone is going to have actual real scale production of electric trucks before Tesla does. Real scale being more than 10-50K per year. So not chipping away at the market. The market for trucks...
  8. Quad motor replacing tri-motor?

I prefer Fuck Me Dead (FMD) handles personally. ?
  9. Cybertruck, the Paradigm Shifter

Well you could argue that Bitcoin is indirectly helping Tesla fund the development of the CT.... :)
  10. Towing and range issues

Indeed! It's time Elon, come on, throw us a bone.
  11. Towing and range issues

Elon has said the CT is going to be better than people think... maybe those 610 mile screen captures in the patent submission documents were true... ?
  12. StarLink for CT Tesla

LOL - I know, although not everything. Just in general it would be cool to have, but yes, it's transformative for many of those underserved by existing infrastructure.
  13. StarLink for CT Tesla

I need Starlink to be my high tech camping internet option so I'm hoping they resolve some of these things by the time I get my CT. Who wants to camp without Netflix? I need to scare the kids with camping horror movies. :)
  14. Saw my first Rivian in the wild

Yeah, the CT speaks to me in ways the Rivian doesn't. The Rivian is great, excellent even, but a bit staid. The CT is the car my 8 year old self would have wanted. The 8 year old wins for me.
  15. Tesla stock price....!

Don't forget insurance, FSD, robotics (a little more distant). If Tesla continue to execute as well as they have their value will be justified even at higher multiples than now.
  16. Saw my first Rivian in the wild

It's grown on me recently just watching videos of it. I still prefer the Cybertruck but the Rivian is a much closer second than I thought it was.
  17. My 2022 Cybertruck MSRP predictions. Are you sitting down?

I tend to agree, my gut is they'll sell them at least close to the original price in order to completely own the market. Provided they can produce enough of them. Given their manufacturing efficiencies it seems likely that they can or will be able to. Nobody knows of course, except for Tesla...
  18. My 2022 Cybertruck MSRP predictions. Are you sitting down?

I am torn between understanding economics and knowing Tesla will charge what the market will bear and the mission of Tesla which calls for cheaper EVs. Elon himself has said they need to be cheaper. Of course, they have increased the price of all their vehicles many times, they've also dropped...
  19. TESLA SHOULD CANCEL THE CYBERTRUCK

The design though does provide better aerodynamics... which is in part why I think Tesla can undercut pricing of the other automakers. Better aero means more range for a given battery pack, plus all the other things like 4680s, mega-castings and so on. Will Tesla's advantage in production speed...
