Bouncing around in confined kennel is way safer.

Larger space increase risk of bloodshed.

Be smart and review.

Why not put the dog in the back seat with the dog seat cover. Or put the dog in a dog crate with a canvas top cover for sun and tie it down. The dog crate protects your dog from being thrown around in the bed while driving or in an accident.

And with the cover closed will you know if that silly A/c unit stops running?

Put the dog in a crate and leave the tonneau cover fully retracted.

Cool setup, but please consider using hard point anchors on a pedestal or base that you can mount to your bed d-rings.

Things like this need to be designed with "what happens in a crash" mindset. That one strap may seem sturdy enough, but I would beef it way up in version 2.0.

Also, if you use it enough to justify extra cost and attention, I would go with an upright or floor standing model that has a vent hose. You can flex duct the hot exhaust easier while adding trim so that the tonneau can close uniformly.

If the back window would open - electric up and down or just sliding - then the a/c from the cabin could flow into the bed area. Or just have a duct from the a/c run into the bed area. Tesla could have provided a toggle to adda/c to the bed or turn it off. Having the cabin a/c flow to the bed and then into the cyber tent would be really a good upgrade.

Does any aftermarket company make a sliding rear window replacement. ??
There is a company called Breezer Windows and they make an aftermarket rear window for the Cybertruck you can open.

Last thoughts because this is incredible.

Anyone doing this and thinking it is a good idea to have dogs or other pets in the vault is really not thinking right.

Doing little research you will realize it is not even legal to do that in lots of states.

You need to have your pets secured, not the AC Unit!

When you stop at that supercharger with blood on your truck bed, a cop will not care about the status of the AC.

You will probably face charges and the first one will be for being a dumbass.

How does that work? You remove the glass, and put in that perforated ABS? Does it add noise to the cabin? Can the glass be put back?

I would check the installation instructions with Breezer. I think they also have a YouTube video on it. I am not familiar with the item myself.

I do this all the time, every other week. I cannot physically fit 3 dogs in the back seat, one of them being a Saint Bernard.

Most of what you’re reading is about an “open truck bed”. With the tonneau cover closed, it is no longer open.

You’re more likely to get ticketed and left with a broken window for leaving your pet in your truck with dog mode on than supercharging since there is someone in the vehicle.

My setup is the EcoFlow wave 2, with led lighting under cabinet lights, Govee temp sensor and bed divider.

Up front she would have just much much room to bounce around. It’s actually to windy and hot to leave the “top down” for Such a long road trip.. around town she rides back there with top down, just like a ”real truck dog”.
she doesn’t ride up front because there isn’t enough room with a wife and two kids, also she sheds a lot, and is quite gassy on road trips.
I have a remote thermometer, and I keep an eye out on the outlets screen, and I can see when its just running as a fan, when the temperature is met, and when the compressor is on.

She doesn’t like the create, she thinks she is in trouble. And it would probably be quite scary. This way she can see us. Also we have a camera feed to the rear view mirror she we can see her.

This is what i really wanted, actually I would have preferred, if Tesla would have just made a roll down window.

If I have to slam on the brakes, and she slides forward on her comfy bed and hits the wall, it’s going to hurt, but she’ll be fine. If that happens and she gets crushed by a flying AC unit, she’ll probably die. and probably one of my passengers too, if it goes through the rear window.

My dog rides inside. If there isn't room, then the extra humans can ride in the back.

Wow, you really do love your dog ^-^

Do you have a picture of the baffle folded down? Is it very compact, easy to deploy? I see in the dog photo that it's absent.

You should probably think about some padding on the bulkhead if she's free to move about her cabin. That's how school busses work, for instance.

The vault having a secure cover makes it definitely different than an open bed, but...

A lead to a harness that restricts the ability to jump out is also a good idea; that's how my last cat would sit co-pilot. Not that she would jump out, just better safe than sorry when something goes wrong.
