They have not. They have released their rights to the connector design, they have not open sourced any of their patents.

Open source has a specific meaning. Tesla opened their licensing, that's different than open sourced. No one took them up on their open license.

Open source means the source, the design, can be read and added to by anyone.

There's nothing special or unique about the actual fast chargers. It's electricity.

Actually, there's a bunch of things that are special, which is why Tesla has a much lower cost per charger than anyone else.

I've followed your complaining on this issue, but I still don't understand what you are being critical of. Tesla's not going to enforce patents against anyone that copies their charger designs.

No one can be certain of it, because no one has gotten that agreement in writing with penalties attached.

The reason open source or open standards should be held by a consortium or committee or non-profit is so that they can't be messed with willy-nilly or taken off the market later.

PS: Holding hands is not bad. This is why we have children hold hands as they cross the street. It's why climbers hold hands as they come over ledges with another. If you're working with others, you can create bigger things than you can alone.
