100% agree. More excited for the Aptera that will get 10 mi/kWh and recharge itself for free. I'm getting mine by the end of this year.

You're more excited for a tricycle? I mean sure that's cool but I don't think you'll be able to haul much top soil in it
While I do run a small farm, I don't haul topsoil when driving three hours roundtrip for date night with my girlfriend. Efficiency is king if you live out in the country.

You don’t lose the destination charge if it hasn’t been sent

I agree about getting over the need to have one right now. I think for me that’s a good thing since I probably won’t get mine until the summer of 2025. Tesla‘s been sending me emails almost every week trying to talk me into buying a Midel Y while I’m waiting for my Cybertruck to come in. Have you all been getting these emails from Tesla as well? if I honestly thought that I could get the majority of what I spent on the Mosel Y back when I sell it and then put that towards the Cybertruck, I might consider it, but I think the odds of it working out that way are extremely low. I think it would make sense if I wanted to have a model Y AND a Cybertruck but that was never my plan.

I don't know the total amount I'd be out.
$100 reservation
$250 to order
Then a few thousand for the destination charge?

As I said, I think I do still want it but a bit of the fun is gone. If I could return it in 7 days like they used to do it would be easier to just do it. I'm more worried about how much I'd be out a few months from now if I'm really hating something.

Like I liked and really wanted HomeLink but I'm so happy they did not go with a yoke. No vehicle is going to be exactly what you want, but do the positives outweigh the negatives and a myriad of Tesla self-inflicted unknowns?
But now we know about the steer by wire surely the yoke isn’t such an issue as your not crossing hands.

Your version of country and mine are clearly very different . An aptera couldn’t drive down the road to my property.

So you maxed out the investment option. I think there's only going to be a handful by the end of the year and they have the 2000 cutting line slots before regular reservation holders. I almost did that yesterday but it still seems kind of dicey. I had a reservation the first time around with the knuckleheads that took it over and drove it into the ground.

But now we know about the steer by wire surely the yoke isn’t such an issue as your not crossing hands.
There's a few basic pieces of driving equipment that I feel like a car should have and not change radically from vehicle to vehicle. The steer by wire not so much, but the adaptive steer or whatever they call it does helps for sure. But still when something goes down and you have 10th of a second to react, there should always be part of the steering wheel there. You shouldn't have to find two points on the circle. You should just reach and grab for any part of a circle and quickly alter course. The squished or squircle steering wheel is an okay compromise. I'd still rather just have a steering wheel. It's not a big deal. The yoke, just looks uncomfortable even when you're not doing three-point turns.

You clearly don’t want the car, or you want to complain more about it after the fact than you want to get out - I cannot figure it out. Some of the things on your list were never going to be on the Cybertruck so they are red herrings. That you are looking for things to add to your list says a lot.

At the end of the day please try to keep in mind the hundreds of thousands of people that haven’t had your good fortune and whether you might get a sympathetic ear from any of them.

I do hope that you will enjoy the car despite your misgivings.
Wait, people think apple car play is good?

I'm more than one occasion, I've daydreamed about hooking up a few mics to a raspberry pie with a display and trying to figure out a way to triangulate where sounds are coming from. I just really hate squeaks and rattles. Knowing that you could just put like a simple piece of material somewhere and stop it but you got to know where and you got to be able to get to it.
Someone as OCD as me... Nice ?
