It's not a widespread issue, but there have definitely been some PCS failures in other models; mainly the Y since that's the highest volume vehicle (for now).

Our issue is unique because we can drive 40 amps at 240 volts while having to power a brand new v48 system bus.
Yep, though it's worse: 48A at 240V from an 800V pack using a new topology 😉

I have really enjoyed my Cybertruck--the best vehicle I've ever had. Considering that and that it's paid off, I wanted to keep it for several more years (or until Tesla brings out a proper SUV). This post is really having me reconsider things. My PCS2 just went out now (38,000 miles), and fortunately I'm not going to be stuck with the repair bill because I'm within the warranty period.

But what happens if it goes out again out of warranty? I'm almost certainly going to be out of warranty by the end of the year due to the amount of driving I'll be doing for the remainder of the year. That's going to be an expensive bill, and it's going to make me reevaluate my statement "the best vehicle I've ever had."
Tesla only charges $1K to replace a failed PCS out of warranty. If that's expensive you had better not buy a gas car!

Welp, just got my 2nd PCS2 failure. At least this time I still have 24amp AC charging unlike last time where it shut the whole truck down. :/ SC says backlog is still really long.

Edit: 30k miles and almost 2 years of ownership. First failure was on day 3 of ownership at 500 miles.
Me too! Mine only manifest itself by disabling the Tonneau and tailgate switches, apparently, which is why I contacted service. Their virtual analysis showed PCS failure.

Price changed? IIRC, it was closer to $3k parts and labor.

Just got my truck back Friday after hours at the SC. I had to pick up a rototiller after getting the truck back so on the way I supercharged at my favorite spot. My wife was with me and when we got to the tiller pickup spot and opened the Tonneau cover much to our surprise our spare tire was missing. Never put it back in the truck. They also didn't replace a missing D-ring from the bed floor as requested that was missing from the last service and armor installation. They listed in their notes something about only 5 D-rings are permitted on the bed. What? I don't even use them. But back to the tire ....the spare is a $1500 item and it was missing after pickup. I messaged them immediately and am awaiting their reply Monday morning.

That service center seems pretty shady. If you have a second option try and book there in the future. Even if its a little farther.

I went to the other service center roughly ten miles further away so they could replaced the tonneau cover when the truck was 5 months old. Took three or four days when the other SC said half day job. So who do you trust? I trust the one that I have gone to the most, which is the one that forgot to put the spare back in. I'll post how it goes.
