Lol, no problem, not really sure what to call it but:

Screenshot 2025-02-16 102355.jpg

Red area = "Upper arm rest"
Blue area = "Lower arm rest"

I'm a taller guy, so the upper area is normally my arm rest due to my height, as the lower area is a little low for me.
Ahhhh. So funny I just told the story of the post to my wife and she knew exactly what you meant before I showed her the picture. I see what you are saying, also little taller but I have not used FSD must yet (just don’t like how it makes my look like a crazy person on the freeway) so I normally have my hands on the wheel.

"I need to travel this for efficiency to make it to the next charger" is a valid reason to go slower. You can also always use a pull-out - with an EV you'll get most of your energy back if you plan it anyhow.

So many awesome things about traveling in an EV! Hitting traffic increases your range, idling uses way less energy, camp mode means you can wait out a black ice morning or take a nap comfortably, and hills become 'gas stations'.

Once we go Unsupervised on FSD, some day, there is a good chance highway speeds will decrease. We will choose to go with more efficient speeds because we just won't care. We will let the vehicle calculate the most efficient route and stops and eventually speed, given conditions.

This will be a good thing. As I've chosen to go slow, not because of my truck but because I owned a Rubicon for a decade(!), I find the trip more enjoyable.

Getting there 7% faster to sacrifice 20% efficiency and stress yourself and your family out doing it no longer makes sense in these semi-autonomous vehicles.

Well said. Especially when paying for Supercharging! Looking at the math, going 75-80 makes the cost level with ICE.
Home charging and around town are dirt cheap!

Thankfully I am not paying for supercharging! Took the sting out of the markup for the FS.

I think the 75-80mph being equivalent is an interesting metric for discussion. I suppose since I do not pay for the electrons I could drive as fast as the law allows. 🤣 I really am quite fine at 70mph for long trips.

As dinosaur juice increases in price over time and while electric grid buildout improves (especially private), this will need to be reassessed.

"Yeah...that Tesla of yours is gonna burst into flames..." the irony at a rest stop
Hmmmm, this photo must be photoshopped. Because I haven't read any national headlines about an ICE car catching on fire for years. 🤪

Seriously though, I'm amazed at how many people still think the fire risk is lower in a gasoline car after years of data showing exactly the opposite.

It just goes to show that dumb-dumbs will believe what they want, even in the face of uncontroversial facts to the contrary.

Some hotels are beginning to install Tesla's universal connectors onsite, instead of the destination chargers in order to bill users which is fine with me consider the convenience this provided by not having to go off site, sit there and wait. I just let it L2 charge whenever I'm at the hotel. Hopefully, this will encourage more adaptation of Tesla's Universal Connectors across the board; I'm looking at you, theaters, stadiums, universities, libraries, Costco, Sam's, etc

It's past time we start putting more pressure on property owners who offer charging as a part of their amenities.

I've never witnessed an EV obstructing a gas pump.
I own shopping centers with many chargers, and a few SC locations. We would NEVER try to police space usage. In most cases we provide signage with unenforceable priority for charging, but would never alienate a customer. The only legally enforceable restriction in most states is handicap.

How much longer is the trip do you believe using the cybertruck over say an ice vehicle.
Depends on the vehicle but I find it’s about 20-25% more time than whatever Google maps says. I use the Tesla nav as well as ABRP but Google maps is good for quick “what ifs.”

You disclose that you own the shopping centers with the chargers. In that case it's private property and "EV charging only" parking restrictions are certainly legally enforceable, whether you chose to enforce it is under your discretion as the business owner. It would fall under the tresspassing statute. You have the right to kick people out who do not follow the rules.

I wouldn't want customers who think I was out of line as the business owner for actively enforcing an "EV charging only" area. This kind of person breaks the rules because they think nobody will enforce it. In this case it sounds like they are correct.

This is why Tesla bakes all kinds of enforcement rules into their lease contracts with Superchargers.

Why wouldn't you want to correct rude behavior on your property? Ever heard of the broken window theory?

I don't shop at stores that encourage dirtbag behavior. Those idiots are also the most likely to steal everything they can get their hands on too.

In every state a landowner has the right to tow a vehicle blocking access to services. It's that denial of service that's key, and ups it from the basic 'there's a thing in a parking spot'. You'd be able to tow a vehicle blocking access manhole, service panel, etc as well.

Even when it's not explicit, land owners have broad abilities to police their own spaces. If your lawyer hesitates, ask them why; and maybe get another answer elsewhere.

Using the example of a common road trip we take to the in-laws.

Of course, remember that the basic mapping tool doesn't include eating, sleeping, or using a toilet! I dunno about you, but I cannot hold it that long - nor do I want to, either.

I know lol!! I try to tell people that pairing the charging sessions with snack and loo breaks are great. Also so much better for your health! That doesn’t mean when I younger I would drive as far as I could between stops or see how quick I could make it on my bike. I like slower life now :) #biketotaledwalkedawaybecauseofgear
