Looks like there are cooling plates between rows inside these (4680?) packs. This looks different from the original structural battery design which was supposed to be cooled from the bottom.

Not really. The ribbons don't look like they have channels in them, so they might just be organizational, or firewalls. They don't seem to be structural from this angle.

To me, it looks like there is a port on the close side for some kind of fluid to flow through.

(Que detective or CSI voice “enhance that part of the image”)

Is it just me or does this all seem like a huge swagger.

Tesla has been essentially broadcasting exactly what they are doing every step of the way. It’s like they are drawing out a game plan and challenging anyone else to try and follow them (so long as they don’t actually steal trade secrets *cough Rivian cough*).

I think it's meant to discredit the naysayers - to prove the progress.

Looks like those could be coolant ports for sure. However, that metal is pretty thin and it doesn’t look like there is much room for flow. They could also just be mechanical connection points for other parts of the battery.

Can it be both? Perhaps those ports lead to liquid channel on the bottom and the metal part has a flange that is attached.

Not sure how it would be made if it had channels in it.
Not sure what else those ports would make sense for other than coolant.

We can’t see the back-side of the ribbon things, that might be helpful.
