I bought a Porsche Cayenne at introduction in 2002, Mercedes R63 in 2007, a Ducati 1199 Panigale 2012. 2 of the 3 were brand new vehicles, the R63 was a one year run of a crazy family hauler. All manufactures had far better customer engagement than Tesla. All were better at communicating estimated delivery dates. All proactively reached out to keep me informed about timeline and upcoming milestones.

Cyberbeast had a Q1 delivery date when I placed my order. 40 days before the end of Q1 and Tesla has no idea what the lead time is to get a vin assigned. The sheer number of people on this forum trying to crowd source information or figure out what is the lead time to get a vin supports my disappointment with Tesla customer engagement.

I would only get concerned about production ramp if delivery windows get missed/pushed back.

So far I am not aware of anybody on this site who has posted they did not get their truck in delivery window given on day they configured order.

I configured on 1/17/24 with delivery window Jan-March. No vin yet but still plenty of time.

The delivery window is best gauge of bad options for production ramp I think, regardless of daily truck numbers.

I waited 9 weeks to get my Model Y last year and I was given a 12 week window and it matched tracking websites well for what I configured.

The only thing that surprised me in all this is that when ordering went live after initial delivery event the website said delivery in 2024....It made me think they underestimated demand and FS demand specifically and figured the high price would not have many takers among early reservation holders. Seems like Tesla may be pleasantly surprised by demand based on Elon's last earnings statements.

I will withhold judgment until a delivery window is missed.

Tomorrow will be 60 days since configuring my CT. I was invited on 12/8, configured on 12/22. I know some have been waiting longer than I have but the timeline I feel is slipping longer and longer. I feel Tesla is providing a 90-day delivery window since invites are given a 3-month timeframe. I am becoming impatient, as time goes on, may not have been so bad if I hadn't sold my Model 3 so quickly.

Be happy you can configure - as a Canadian I have no sympathy lol

If you like the experience better, you should stick with Porsche, Mercedes and Ducati. I had a pretty good idea what the "customer engagement" would be like with Tesla before I bought my first one in 2018 and I have never been dissappointed. I don't want to engage with corporations any more than I need to and Tesla has engaged with me at the appropriate points. Cybertuck is my third new Tesla (I bought another used on the open market). All were good experiences.

I've also bought two new Ducati (and one used classic). I cannot say the Ducati dealership experience was any better than what I recieved at VW, Mazda, Ford or Volvo (and a relative owned the Volvo Dealership). Which is to say that I would rather have four wisdom teeth impacted and removed than do business with any of them. Maybe if they offered nitrous oxide to ease the buying experience, I would have a different opinion. But as it stands, I would far rather deal with the way Tesla does it. And that says a lot because only the Volvo was a special order, the rest were already on the lot or in the showroom and it was still a bad experience. No kidding.

But consumer choice is great, nobody is forcing you to do business with Tesla and you should have had a pretty good idea what to expect going into this. I'm just surprised that some people feel they need so much hand holding (when even Tesla doesn't know how all this is going to go down `because the ramp is so unlike any other manufacturing ramp in history). No one has done anything like this before. I'm talking about the technologies incorporated in the production line, the design of the production line and the evolving state of 4680 batteries made in-house. How can they hold your hand when they don't even know? No one else would have even attempted a truck built like Cybertruck.

Look at Fisker. They hire a super experienced manufacturer to build all their cars, their cars are of traditional construction, save for the solar panels on the roof, and there is a lot of chaos. Look at Rivian's launch of the R1T and R1S, reservationists had no idea when they were going to get their deliveries, and some were pushed back years.

I think the truth is, all the handholding in the world is not going to really prepare people, because even Tesla has no way of knowing how it will all unfold. Such is the first-world problems of early adopters of bleeding edge technology. Tesla could probably hold your hand a lot better if they sold these for $250K, then they would have a lot of margin to hire people to keep you constantly updated with the progress of your quarter-million-dollar vehicle and make you feel more important.

True, i think the first estimated delivery window being offered ends in March? So still plenty of time. The one things bothers me that only 1/10 of total registered orders received the vehicle and latest delivery window of all (except the beast) orders' delivery ends in April. Only 2 month away, Tesla gonna finish deliver the rest 90% of the registered orders. Not impossible but seem like a daunting task to me.

They still haven't cleared 12/8/23 and 12/9/23 deliveries. Delaying your order 2 weeks means you'll likely be in a group that waits at least 3-4 months for VIN assignment. I waited to place my order until 1/5/24 because I don't want delivery until about July. I waited 10 minutes into the 2019
unveiling because I wanted the Cybertruck in about 5 years but not in the first 6 months of deliveries. Obviously many are still totally delusional about Cybertruck delivery timelines. On the bright side they'll be a few early outliers. It's always possible you get your VIN in a few weeks and delivery by April or early May.

Wow! Did your meds wear off? Or you're just having a shitty day. Either way, chill it's not a big deal. People are just curious about when they'll receive their CT. Tesla should be more transparent about timeframes. I understand at first a 3-month estimate was good, but as they move through the list. Tesla should give you an update on a timeframe. There are a lot of smart people at Tesla, so I don't think it would be too hard to figure out a way to send an email stating you're a few weeks away or a couple of days away from a VIN.
