There’s two different motorcycle groups here in Wyoming.

Folks who ride Asian crotch rockets love the truck. Lots of waving and thumbs up.

Folks who drive the big Harley type bikes absolutely hate it.
Here the crotch rocket guys don’t like it. Lots of head shakes and thumbs down. It’s a head scratcher.

Jeep drivers… OOF!
I pass one most mornings on my way to the gym at 7am and the guy driving goes out of his way to make demonstrative hand gestures showing his displeasure for my Beast. It brightens my morning every time I see him.
When they give me the hands down I give them the Mr Chow special.. it aways really pisses them off:

I need some witty responses for these:

"That thing's gonna catch on fire"
It's already on fire! It's the hottest selling electric truck in America! It outsells the F-150 Lightning, the Hummer EV, the Rivian R1T and the Silverado and Sierra EVs. In fact, it outsells all of them put together!

I'm still getting a lot of very positive reactions, including a lot of people who want to look inside it at the supermarket. Lot's of Sentry videos of people giving it a good checking out, always including cupping their hands around their face in order to see inside better. People standing back and studying it from different angles, etc. A few "nice truck" comments. One guy told me I was "lucky" to have such a nice truck.

CT is part of the exotics club, welcome. I don't own one, but this is all reminiscent when I owned a Ferrari F430. This was recent, so it's a relatively "old" Ferrari for this generation, and cost me less than $100k. I got the exact same mix of reactions. Of those who reacted nearly all positive, but the negative ones were similar. Getting flicked off for no reason when I'm just cruising, another owner had someone stick gum on his. None of this happened when I had my C8 that cost the exact same as my Ferrari.

In my Lightning, I got the occasional head shake, and a thumbs down, but more often confusion and incredulousness when they noticed non ICE things. One day I was observing some construction work while sitting in my frunk. One of the operations guys stopped as he was leaving to make sure I didn't need any help, he thought I was broken down because the frunk was open, lol. Lots' of surprised faces when packing or unpacking the frunk... The occasional joke when seeing the funk, "I see your problem, ain't got no gas" (Slingblade reference). A near unanimous, "where's the motor?" from the truck guys.

Anyway, it's a mix of class warfare and politics. The politics will eventually go away, especially as EV trucks gain market share; but the class warfare stuff will continue on. Anyone with anti-capitalist views will view this a symbol of what they hate as they do any exotic car.

I'll admit one of my hesitations is the exotic look, I prefer a low key profile, but I love the capabilities.

Texas ladies seem drawn to the thing, even the ones who think it's ugly

Half tell me their husbands want one so the want to photograph ALL of it. The other half just grin and say nice truck, often right in front of their husbands

I think it's a Texas thing, especially where I live. The women are driving Jeeps, Silverados and Land Rovers. They thirst for big trucks here

In another incident, a guy in another EV (Ford Mach-E) made a point to drive past, roll out the window, and mockingly laugh.
Mach-E? and HE is doing the laughing? I LOL at him.

There is an energy field around the Cybertruck as you probably have noticed. I'd love to read about other's experiences with weird behaviors and how you deal with or react to them.

Here's my initial list
  • People in front of you driving slowly because they are taking selfies or looking at your car
  • People behind you speeding up to look at your car
  • People who speed past you with an aggressive look presumably to antagonize you to race
  • People who ask you to roll down your windows to talk/ask questions
  • People who ask to see the inside (with the expectation of jumping in the car-not just taking a glance!)
  • People who touch/sit on/crowd around your car when parked whether you are in the car or not
  • Lots of thumbs up.
  • Occasionally thumbs down.
  • Jaw drops and wows
  • Kids love it - point and scream "Cybertruck!"
Bonus, just this weekend, I've had a couple more incidents that are new. I found spit on my car. In another incident, a guy in another EV (Ford Mach-E) made a point to drive past, roll out the window, and mockingly laugh.

It's not all bad. Sometimes it's fun. But the negative stuff sucks.
It's a trigger for some people. Especially for diesel truck drivers. It seems to really bother them. 95% are nice and they curious. I have given strangers a ride in it and kids just love it. I let them sit inside and i explain how it works. But i think it the online people that the meanest. It triggers those that are inflexible and ridged in their thinking the most. Its like a lightening rod for all kinds.

Here down in S Florida it’s business as usual; hundreds of exotics used for daily drivers and the CT is just another novelty. Kids turn their heads but the hype is over. Kind of nice to be left alone.

In three months I’ve only had one negative: A pickup truck with four H.S. kids passed me and tossed, what turned out to be, a penny that hit my roof. (no damage, luckily)When I got home, I checked the video and got nice pictures of their truck, tag, and one smiling teenager! A friend at the police department ran the tag for me, and( here’s where it gets funny and ironic), the truck belonged to an employee of one of my neighbors! It was his son driving, so I sent pictures to him and confirmed who was driving. The son paid the price by getting a bus schedule and coming to my house to wash our windows! He also learned three valuable lessons:
1. At 17, don’t do anything you know is wrong.
2. Your friends will always get you in trouble.
3. This is the 21st Century. There are cameras EVERYWHERE!
