Quick update: My truck was still able to charge at a slower speed a few times after this error. I had to wait 11 days for a service appt. I had just enough charge left to drive to the service center but Tesla service said supercharging would work, so I drove to one nearby and it did NOT work. After doing that and driving home, It was showing that I would only have 1% battery left upon arriving at the service center. The roadside help via the app. was not helpful and they told me I had enough charge, so I had to drive there. However, they gave me a number to call and after getting past the AI bot, a live person said they could tow the vehicle to the service center.
Lessons:
1. Don’t assume the truck will charge anymore, even if it does start working again.
2. Keep fighting with roadside if you need it towed, they deflect if there is ANY possibility you can get the vehicle there yourself. (Apparently even if you have to drive under 60mph and push the last mile!
)
3. An AC charging error can also mean DC charging does not work.
4. The AI chat in the service part of the app may lie to you and tell you to drive to a supercharger since that should work and give you enough charge!
I’ll update on how towing goes, seemed fast and easy for them to setup.
Hopefully it doesn’t take more than 1.5 days to get this and other repairs done. I have a roadtrip scheduled for this weekend.
