During my research I found this guy had a pretty good answer on the topic of 4vs6 romex and THHN on the Tesla Motors Club forum...

Tesla Cybertruck Advice on 50amp exterior wall rig up wanted!! 1719420351051-py

--------------------

After consideration today I think I'll be leaving the 6-50 outlet and 50amp circuit alone (since I do use this regularly for equipment).

I'll wire up the UWC with a dedicated 60 amp circuit and use #6 AWG THHN/THWN-2 pulled though conduit. The conduit will run from my interior breaker box along the wall to the location I want to exit the building and then all the way though the wall gap to the UWC.

I'm still not exactly sure what size conduit to run. Also wat size does my ground need to be? #8?

This is the "proper" way to do anyway, so a good choice imo

Seems like 3/4'' would do it... but 1'' would probably be easier to pull

Had an electrician wire an inline NEMA 14-50 with my Tesla charger a number of years back. Both on the same 50 amp circuit. There is no switch between them. My electrician just warned me not to use both at the same time.

My idea was to use it as it backup in case my Tesla charger ever failed. Well, it did finally fail after 9 years of use and boy has this plug come in handy.

Yes indeed FWIW I think that is the best move. Per NEC 250.122 the minimum size grounding conductor you will need for a 60amp breaker is a #10 copper.
3/4" conduit is fine just dont make more than 360 degrees in bends.

I tried to get my electrician to do the same. He said, that will never pass code and doesn't recommend it. So I just took the wires from the 14/50 and put them in a charger directly and just put a faceplate on my 14/50 (removed the outlet).

That said, you do know that wiring in a new charger (to replace your old one) is simple and probably a 15 minute job? I did mine... and it literally was 15 minutes.

Niccceeee this is what I was looking for @Cyber Satoshi ... I have a similar situation. Will be going with a dedicated 60 amp circuit!

Thanks!
