This was discussed once many moons ago and the answer was a hard no dice from Tesla.

Anyone revisited the idea with a trade in and been successful or recently been told no?

I’m in the process of scheduling my CB delivery and am wondering if I could barter to take no cash credit but transfer the free supercharging for my trade in. Long shot I know, but just in case….

Anyone?…. Bueller? Bueller?

Thanks in advance for any replies to my pipe dream.

Cheers all

I doubt that will ever be a thing. A little bit of cash up front vs the increased power requirements of the cybertruck would be a bad choice on Teslas part.

That would have worked with other Teslas, because there is no way getting electricity out from them with large amounts, but the CT with electrical outlets will not likely to ever be a thing. Imagine people would go to a supercharger every second day and run their home from the generator outlet for free.

While I agree. That is one expensive battery for home. Plus one has to have batteries to dump the juice into at the home, or one has no power when truck isn't present. So concept works, but the cost is not insignificant.

If one has grid power, that is just a stupid cycling of a battery that has other use case that is more important. The cost to replace the battery if done on a consistent basis would likely be sooner than later, and couple that with use of driving on top.

I have access to a winter Level 2 charger that is free. Being off grid I would use the truck charge it, and return home in those 2 to 3 weeks in Feb that we get crap for sun. It is a pain, yet it reduces my propane use to almost zero other than cycling my back up generator.

Yeah. Not going to happen. Think about it. Free supercharger + powershare = no electric bills + battery replacement under warranty due to excessive cycles.

..come to think about it, you could actually *make* money since public utilities are required to buy back any excess on-site generation.
