This is the message I got just now, seems like both pressure tactic and veiled threat, now or no?

I don't have a VIN number yet and I'm very concerned that the insurance is going to be stupid expensive and may keep me from going forward with the purchase. I live in Las Vegas and recently got a quote from Liberty mutual for $900 a month for a $50,000 Jeep. I ain't sure the same Jeep for about $330 through progressive. But nobody has given me a cybertruck quote without a VIN number.

Curtis P. from Car Charging Pros:

Hi Scott. Tesla needs to know if they are sending us your PowerShare equipment or not. If so, we need to collect the permit fee of $300 as the deposit so we can get that started. If not, we need to inform tesla that you are declining it. Please let me know either way. Thanks, Curtis
In Vegas as well, placed order for AWD 1/17 but no VIN. Already paid the deposit for the $300 permit fee. On 4/5 Car Charge Pros were already asking for the remaining balance of $4,480.

I’m not paying until the install is completed or started. Might even consider pushing back the install until I physically have the Truck. From what I am seeing on here after the national hold, as well as other states getting their VIN pretty quickly with a recent order date it seems we are going to get skipped over as usual anyway.

Nope, they said Tesla wont release the hardware for my install until I have a VIN. Once I have a VIN, I'm supposed to contact the electrician.
Also, my install was quoated at 2550. The cheapest I've seen so far.

Well, the installation for the charger took maybe 10 min because previous home owner already had a Tesla Wall charger. Previous home owner took the charger but left the wiring and the extra breaker in panel box etc, so all installation had to do is connect the new charger.

$800 for 10 minutes of work...I probably could have bought the charger and install the thing by myself and save $100.
In that specific case, you definitely could have, assuming you know and follow, basic electrical safety.
Since my first Tesla in 2014, I have installed chargers for myself, my family and friends who all own Teslas, but I know a little about it. While not a licensed electrician, I have been instructed by a few good ones.
In NJ, it is legal for a homeowner to perform his own electrical work, as long as it is inspected, and a Permit is filed.
