Whoops; funny: Does anyone else have their CT mirrors adjust out of your settings?

I don't use the side physical mirrors on the CT very often but old habits, from decades ago, die hard and occasionally I glance only to see nothing helpful cause they somehow reset. They would be helpful if a plane was landing on me from behind. I adjust both mirrors (usually while driving and trying NOT to get an FSD strike) so they allow a visual view of their corresponding sides. As soon as I backup and then enter Drive, it then has some alternate view. WTF? Is this a mirror issue or setting issue? I did confirm setting both regular view and backing up/downward view which I used to love but points elsewhere. As I was trying this, yet again, recently while PARKED, I saw that button at the bottom called SAVE. Wow, works much better now. LOL!

But since you are here... Everytime I enter FSD, a few seconds go by and I'm enjoying the ride and relaxed, then SQUEAK...the wipers try to clean the windshield on a hot dry and sunny day; usually startling me. Is there a way to get this to stop, well, other than washing the truck? Oncoming vehicles must think I'm nuts. On a road trip, I clean all the cameras mulitiple times a day, but around home, I don't bother. I'm getting fairly quick at hitting the wiper button on the squircle, then hitting 1 and OFF, but that only buys me a few minutes. Suggestions?

Get the dry wipe all the time. Startled me on occasion too. Make sure its not on auto if not using FSD (which selects the auto setting).

Ha, yup, gotta save the mirrors.

Hitting the wiper button, then scroll down on the left scroll wheel works too, quick with no screen taps needed. Alternately, you could add the wiper shortcut to the screen quick access, hit that then scroll down and you can turn the wipers off with no initial single wipe.

I think its a bug! For some reason even if I save my side mirror settings I've seen it change. Not sure because I use a local profile too.. but it doesn't happen every time.

I use FSD for 90% of my driving, and I get the "dry wipe" about once every never.

If you've not yet cleaned the inside of the windshield under the glare shield, then there's likely an oily film on the glass that will make the front camera appear hazy; you can confirm this by previewing the cameras on-screen, and it will be quite noticeable when under direct sunlight.

I documented my cleaning attempt here:

https://www.cybertruckownersclub.com/forum/threads/fsd-has-good-days-and-bad-says.25615/post-429669

I assume I'll need to do this again someday, but it's been 6 months so far. The plastic outgassing responsible for the "new car smell" will leave deposits on the interior, however the effect recedes over time.

I cleaned my windshield in front of the cameras and the SC did also. I still get the dry wipe, smear and squeal. I have given up and trying to end that madness.

THANK YOU @CyberGus ! I will try that out.

Hum, I don't smoke but those beans on camping trips might become an issue...LOL

I wonder if it's a safety thing? If you put it into FSD, the truck needs a clean window for the front camera, no matter if there's no water on it. I get it all the time I enter FSD mode.

This is the best fix I came up with:

Use voice command to "turn off wiper" whenever you engage FSD.
