Wellā€¦it is all yours, can breed, sell and its FSD AI(animal intelligence).

A horse saved my ass as a young rider(smart horse), carbon fork framed bike saved my adult life on a twisty steep descent over a rough spot and Michelin AVSā€˜s caught traction when the backend got loose on a tight curve.

Cybertruck stands to save lives joining that SAVElist given things it is capable. I welcome FSD AI. Itā€™s half as good as that horse itā€™ll be in the win column.

I, for one, welcome our new robotic overlords.

However, there are legitimate privacy concerns. China has already restricted the use of Teslas around government buildings and military installations, due to the cameras.

Of course, most all cars going forward will have various bits of tech that could be used for monitoring and eavesdropping. So it seems like this is an issue that will need to be addressed eventually.

If it would shave $20K off of my CT2, I would skip as much tech as I can. If the price difference is negligible I want as much tech and cameras as I can get provided I am the ultimate system admin and can selectively and conveniently turn off anything (cameras, screens and features) I want without remote override by Tesla or anyone else.

I don't need/want FSD at this time (may be later when I am less functional behind the wheel or drive more ).

I don't want my vehicle to be used for data collection without my consent. It should be understood that I own any data collected by my car and my processing power or battery will not be used to collect or process any information not used directly by my car. I consider bundling the data Tesla wants to essential features and functions I need creepy business practice. Bundling it to niceties I can live without is OK.

If the vehicle is listening and watching all the time, I want a report of energy cost of my car being awake (like how my phone report the app power usage). I have a problem with an Auto"mobile" using energy when it is not mobile. If I am in a shady area and chose to have it running, it is a different story.

I have never owned a Tesla so I could be completely fine with how it is working as is if it is in line with my comfort zone listed above but if it is different, I probably end up compromising on many of those areas to get my CT but I am not sure how far I would go.

Iā€™m just fine changing from all bells and whistles CT3 to CT2 or CT1 RWD. Regardless, CT1, CT2 or CT3 any one of the models of Cybertruck will be original legends each with their own bragging rights. At the end of the day, there is not a bad decision to be made. Cybertruck is a solid platform.

Iā€™d jump on a CT1 RWD, even without 4x4, itā€™s shaping up as the kind of choice that would leave the least regrets. Elonā€™s battery philosophy that no one needs more than 400mi. EV range has thrown the tow-your-own option in the wind ā€” for me. That was a redflag-delta moment as a potential new Tesla customer.

With Maxwell sold, FSD the moving target its become, tilt-a-whirl costs and chip shortages impacting production, itā€™s shaping up as a BYO(build your own) Cybertruck rodeo - post delivery. It wonā€™t be my firstā€¦in the least.

Yes
10 years I've taped a small white paper over laptop and cell lens. It is not Tesla I am concerned with but any hacker or government agencies here or abroad can easily access camera data. With a little tape and note book paper I ensure no one can view where or what a lens can see.
On a Tesla I would not ask to remove the hardware I just need to know where all the lens are and when I can block out when not in use..
If you're being for real here, a Tesla--or any modern tech--isn't for you. You're probably on the wrong website, friend.

Also does buying the truck mean i consent to have my location and data shared with tesla?
Location, yes. Tesla can remotely access any of their cars. That doesn't mean they're allowed to share it with the angry Karen you cut off yesterday.

Data, yes. While they technically have your information, again they are not allowed to share it. Just like every other digital service, bank, phone provider, or ISP in the world.

People will get more about you from public records when you bought a house than from Tesla. But if you want to go early 2000s use only cash, avoid CCTV, Matt Damon in Bourne Identity style, you're out of luck.

I didn't see here a discussion about how the criminals will like the Tesla vehicles and the cameras in particular. I guess the mafiosi may not only avoid stealing but avoid owning them too.

Might be bullet "proof", but it isn't Elon proof! Haha

In another forum itā€™s been suggested that optional wifi ā€œpuckā€ cameras should be able to connect through the Tesla OS. Imagine the possibilities! If youā€™re towing a rental box trailer put the magnetic puck in the back and youā€™ve got rear vision again. Rear facing baby seat? Put the puck above the baby and view from screen.

If not an accessory available from Tesla direct, if the software enables it Iā€™m sure many aftermarket manufacturers will provide.

What situations can you see a wifi camera being useful for Cybertruck?
Might need to make this its own topic...
I have a baby (OK, she's now 17 months old but still sitting rear-facing) and the baby camera would be nice. I wonder if I can get a screen puck to allow my baby to see daddy's face using the camera facing the driver. Then we could essentially zoom call each other while on a drive.

What's the old saying........."You're not paranoid if they really are out to get you."
Like it or not we are in an age where your privacy is not a big concern of government or any company you do business with. Oh they give it a lot of lip service but in the end they do whatever they can get away with.
When I was in the Army I was once in Explosive Ordnance Disposal and had a security clearance that allowed me to work on nuclear weapons. My guess is I'm still on one or more government watch lists.
After watching some of the Teslacam videos on YouTube I'm fine with all the cameras. It will protect you from all the knuckle dragging mouth breathers that have bought a drivers license when one of them screws up and causes and accident you're involved in.
My guess is when you buy a Tesla you are going to sign an arbitration agreement just like you do when you buy any other vehicle. Try to buy one without signing it.....they will let you walk away from the deal. You will also probably have to sign an agreement that allows Tesla to use the data collected as they see fit. They have invested a huge sum of money to create the network that collects and analyzes said data. It is used to make their product better and more profitable.
The bottom line is you have to do what is right for you. It's their game and they make the rules. If that means you can't live with the rules Tesla makes then you can take your ball and go home.
