Curious to see what everyone is using to upgrade from the OEM 128GB flash drive. Tried to search for better options and saw this "Jowua" brand was recommended.
There’s some coupon codes also if you search which helps even more with price.

Thanks. I found two codes (YUNN / DENNIS) that discounts $9.99. Not quite enough for me to pull the trigger. 😂

I used the shop app, it gave me another $15 off, but YMMV. I like the idea of extra usb ports for controllers etc. I had on order one of the Samsung T9s which is as expensive even on sale ($179/amazon) currently and you lose the extra ports.

I grabbed a Samsung 2TB drive off Amazon back in 2024. Think I paid 140? Only issue I ever had with it was a bad cable out the box.

Edit: Either price went up or I just bought it anyway.

Same. Running a Samsung T7 originally bought for my '24 CT. Just transferred it to my '26.

I previously ordered this USB hub. Whas thinking of pairing it with a solid slate flash drive like this one: ySky 1TB USB 3.2 SSD.

I use a Sandisk 256GB MAX Endurance microSDXC card in one of their SANDISK MobileMate USB 3.0 microSD Card Readers for storing video and music. I partitioned it into two drives. I did this just after getting the Model Y in Dec 2022 and it finally is showing occasional errors on the video partition. I've had it recording dash cam and sentry mode 24/7 since then. The car has sat outside in the summer sun and winter cold nearly the whole time. I think after 2.5 years if one switched the partitions it would last over 5 years.

When I picked up the CT, I pulled out the Tesla USB key and stuck in the same setup.

I wish Tesla would do better wear leveling on the flash drives. They need to move the video recording buffer, directory files, and file system meta data around so they aren't constantly rewriting the same blocks again and again.

I installed theJowua unit in the Cybertruck two weeks ago.
It is a great fit.
The non movable face of the glove box is a smooth plastic surface that has the USB-A
female for plugging the Jowua 1Tb drive.
The Jowua has the USB-A male offset on the unit. This causes the unit to “sag” on the end opposite of the USB-A male.
This puts some stress on the USB connection.
I used a small patch of 3M Super Strength Molding Tape (03616) to attach the far end of the Jowua unit.
The 3M tape sticks very well on the smooth surface to give the unit support.
Most importantly no USB errors in the Service logs…
Cybertruck is not here currently, when returned, I will post a picture of the installation.

Agree. I’ve tried a few and it’s my fave by a mile.

Myself I worry that any sag would damage the port over time and require a likely hefty bill from Tesla to repair. Hot cold cycles will enviably fail the sticky and allow it to sag. That’s why went with the Samsung T7 2Tb that just lays in the bottom and cord just plugs in. Zero issues in the 2 years / 75k miles so far.

Please do. Like to see how you have this mounted. I received my Jowua 1TB but it was write protected when I received it, so having to send it back.

For me just a piece of strong hook and loop that fixed the sag and also keeps it removable. If memory serves I used my guitar pedalboard stuff which is typically 3m dual lock. I also have some bundled excess wire and the receiver for that careoke mics resting right on top of it and it stays perfectly level while supporting the weight.

Unfortunately not a good pic but you can see the careoke receiver velcroed to the top and the Jowua is velcroed to it.

I really like that when the drawer moves, the assembly doesn’t. Only caveat is there has to be clearance. You can’t overstuff that side of the glovebox
