As somebody whoās well known for aggressive heart attacks, this is a doozy. Look, I love my FS/CB! I love my [Vet] and I love my MS Plaid that I just had finished out with one of the last track packs that Tesla will ever sell. That car sits at the pinnacle of any model S that ever has been or will ever be sold.Okay- this is just about money. The best cybertruck is the beast in whatever premium version is currently offered. If you are stretching financially - then the AWD is a great car too / just not the top of the line - period. The AWD is cheaper because it is less of a vehicle. Same with a turbo S Porsche 911 versus the Porsche 911 Carrera. Simply a decision on dollars. And of course the towing ability of the cyberbeast is more than the AWD - I am still thrilled with my cyberbeast foundation - alcantera interior, white dashboard, massive acceleration faster than all my friends in my corvette or porsche clubs - I like to tell them at cars and coffee thar my ā refrigerator is faster then any of their carsā. Why does anyone buy the new corvette zr1X over the standard corvette? Because it is the ābestā version of the Corvette. The Beast is the best version of this fantastic vehicle- the cybertruck, if you can afford the beast - stop agonizing - and over analyzing / buy the best cybertruck available- the BEAST!
But, I cannot agree with your conclusion that the fastest trim is always the best for everyone and for all purposes.
1. Iām on my second vet when the C9 comes out that will be my third. I never buy a z06. My Z51ās have always done everything I want to do. Less drama, fewer mechanical issues and just a little bit less ostentatious. So, even for me a certified speed demon the fastest most expensive trim isnāt always what I need or want. I donāt feel like any less then because I didnāt choose to buy a Z06, or wait for a ZR1 or ZRX or any of that that comes later. Z 51 is generally the first new gen vette to launch and I want it first.
2. Yes, I bought my beast because itās the most powerful quickest version and thatās what I wanted. But there are meaningful compromises depending on what you want. The AWD is plenty fast enough but has better range, is dramatically smoother and quieter, feels way more refined, has dual mechanical lockers and gets meaningfully better range.
There are many people for whom that makes it a better rig. Iām pretty sure the good doctor, @hemiarch could buy and sell most people on the forum a couple of times without putting a dent in his pocket change, so cost is not a constraint for him and many others. Heās not going to drive super fast because heās got kids and it isnāt his thing.
Under no circumstances would a CyberBeast be the right choice for him and thatās perfectly fine. Itās not a one size fits all solution, and thatās why there are options. There are always trade-offs and if the range delta had been a little bit more significant that and the better off-road capabilities (manual lockers on both axles) couldāve easily pushed me towards the AWD.
