Since the latest FSD update my truck now slams on brakes for birds flying across my path and squirrels in the road. This has resulted in cars blowing horns at me and objects including passengers being jerked around. Fortunately the passengers are restrained by their seatbelts. Anyone else experiencing the hypersensitive collision avoidance involving small animals? I’ve tried to alert the engineers but the new system only lets you select from a few choices as to why the FSD was turned off and no voice recordings now

yep, there are slight regressions in reaction level for animals and such; but ultimately those who are behind you that are angry are simply following you too closely.

At the end of the day the onus is on them. If FSD has to slam the brakes to avoid a collision, and someone hits you from behind, it's their fault.

I agree with that.

Happens to me a lot since 14.3, i dont disengage but i do bug report it. That and dry wiping has become way more frequent. I turn off autowipe as soon as i engage fsd, and same thing, bug report.

Not a CT owner (yet), but it does the same on my '24 M3P. 14.2.2..... hard brakes for birds, squirrels, and a rabbit. All lived, though I lost a few years off my heart.

I had the truck brake for a bird flapping in front of the windshield last week. I'm not sure who was more startled. I think the dashcam footage has probably been deleted by now, but this is what he looked like -> O^O

You can only submit a report to the FSD team by disengaging.

The "bug report" voice command (or feedback or report) doesn't actually go to Tesla. It stays in you vehicle where your local service center can view and they only will upon request.

Yup the small critter avoidance with breaking is really bad.
Unfortunately this is likely going to be one of those things that stays until someone posts the FSD footage on X of the truck slamming on the breaks for a squirrel and getting giga rear-ended.
I wish there was a way to turn this off, someone is going to get rear ended badly, a human following a CT can't react or break quick enough if driving down the road on a nice day and the CT with good breaks slams them on.

Hopefully Tesla fixes this before to many trucks get hammered.

I have had this before as well. Once when a vulture was in the road and once when a baby bunny ran across my path. I hope that the truck would not do it if there was a car following closely. I was taught as a farm boy that if a cute animal or even a dog ran in front of you, unless you were 100% sure it was safe to slam on the brakes you hit the animal and felt bad, but no animal was worth the life of a human.

Well I live in the woods and that is exactly what I teach my kids when they are learning to drive. It has made the ride home quite adventurous. 😳
