Now that we are out of winter and things are heating up, I am seeing a reoccurring issue. When I return to my vehicle the screen is black and it will not wake up until I reboot it.

Conditions to reproduce:
  • Sentry mode on
  • Parked in direct sunlight
  • Cabin temp over 115f
The locks and windows still work. The manual shifter on the rear view mirror doesn't work. Rebooting by pressing both scroll wheels brings back the screen in about 30 seconds.

Anyone else seeing the same issue?

EDIT: I also want to add its painful to reboot. The scroll wheels are metal, or at least get very hot and you have to HOLD them down for a while to reboot.

UPDATE: This occurred 3 times total. This has not happened again since the "Locking differentials" update. I do have a video documenting it, but will continue to monitor.

I have noticed the "Cabin Overheat Protection" isnt always working and is allowing the cabin to go over 100°. So that tells me the system might be locking or powering off still.

Have not had same experience here.

Currently it is 96F outside and my CT is 108F inside with overheat protection set to 100F as a reference.

I have seen temps of 136F inside my CT before overheat protection update/addition but no issue with blank/black screen.

Today I used "vent" from the app, it dropped the temperature to about 10º above ambient within 10 minutes.

I've also observed temps far in excess of my COP limit, I'm guessing it doesn't obsess trying to keep it at exactly 100º, but lets it climb somewhat to minimize cycling.

When COP does activate, it seems to take only a minute or two to reach temperature. Heck, it only takes 5 minutes to pre-cool down to my 74º set point.

Keep us posted on this. My CT will be parked in 105-110 degrees in the desert this summer and I was wondering if there will be heat effects. In my other vehicles, I have no issues, even with all the fancy touch screens they put in my vehicles.
