Brand new Key Card not working

Have had my Cybertruck since April. About a month ago the keycard stopped working. So I know how to use the key and the correct place to put the key on the pilar to lock/unlock. From other Tesla owners they told me that key cards go bad.

Just bought the brand new metal keycard via the Tesla shop. In the Cybertruck I open the app- tap add new key- I place the new metal keycard on the charging mat- it then gives me a notice that the key is added to my Cybertruck.

Now when I close the door and try to use the key it will not lock or unlock the doors- I put the key in a bunch of locations nothing.

Am I missing something or a setting I need to adjust?

Am bringing it in on 2/10 to get the wiper motor replaced and will address this but would love to get it solved sooner.

I’ll add that the key is showing up under “keys” on the Lock Screen. In addition, if I enter the Cybertruck with my phone key; take the new metal Cybertruck card and place in the charging mat; then turn off my phones blue tooth. The Cybertruck is showing the metal key card in first position and listing it as “active”.

Making me think there is a issue with the detection in the Pilar- but my phone key works perfect every-time

Valet parked my truck at the airport last week and came back after 3 days with my truck in the exact same spot.

Same here. Definitely doesn't work after adding the new metal key card. I don't remember if the original key cards ever worked as I have been using my phone from the moment I got the CT.

I had the same issue. My key was paired and recognized onscreen but did not open doors. I had to go the service center for something so I added the key as a concern to the appointment. It took some doing and had to order a new key, but it works now.

Interesting, I just got a new metal key card.

After reading this thread I decided I had better try it. It was previously programed using the charger pad. I casually flipped it up and nothing. I tried it a second time holding it in place and still nothing, finally I held it dead flat against the pillar reader for a full four second count and it worked. I repeated locking and unlocking it and it seemed to work normally after that first time long take. ?‍

I normally use my phone for access. I keep a backup card in my wallet, an emergency card at home and the third spare card is in the truck's aftermarket console lockbox.

This has been fixed with the .10 release had same issue and got the software update last night …all back to normal

Issue got resolved with latest software update. 2024.45.32.10
Both the metal key as well as standard keys now do work as required.

I also bought a metal key card. Only worked for a week. I happen to have a service schedule for my truck and I told them about the key. They weren't able to fix it and also I couldn't return it because the return window was over. Tesla service were no help.
