Breaking: Grey Interior ("Tactical Grey") image from Foundation Series compositor source code!

correct me if I’m wrong, but to hand-hold folks through what this is (particularly given the thread’s potentially confusing name)

basically you were digging through “hidden” corners of Tesla’s websites, including pages that aren’t ‘live’/visible in normal channels.

this broad segment of the website dealing with CTs is currently all styled for Foundation Series, but buried in there out of view was this photo



point of the story: this is just showing a rendering of the AWD interior we’v seen hundreds of, as all (but a couple) of the RC and MC units were AWDs with these grey interiors

Below, the 195 RC/MC AWDs we’re all grey interior, the 30 RC/MC beasts were all white interior.

the 20 showroom AWDs were anomalies in that they had white interiors

For regular retail units, either (1) Tesla sticks with what was an old plan, of all AWDs being grey and all Beasts being white, or (2) Tesla easily changes their plan by making white an upgrade/option in AWD, and/or making grey an option in Beast

Pretty much. The compositor can add accessories to the CT you see on the foundation purchase page. Like light bar, grey interior, remove foundation badging. I tried to do the rwd truck with the different grey but it wouldn't let me. Nor the all season tire combo.

Interestingly, it did let me add the wireless charger accessory but obviously you can't see it

If I remember correctly from my last deep dive of the configurator code. White was an upgradable selection on non-founders AWD and beast could not be grey. Also, I think rwd could not do white

The compositor can add accessories to the CT you see on the foundation purchase page.

yeah but just to be clear and not confuse people, this doesn’t mean the ‘live’ website allows people to select these options for a Foundarion unit, that people have eg missed / not noticed when ordering their CTs


I assume we’re most likely seeing some ‘hidden’ web functionality that will be intended to go live when non-Foundarion units can be configured, which right now by oddity/default reports over to the Foundation-specific units

Though I take all that with a grain of salt regarding how the retail units will be offered for configuration initially or ever.

not because I doubt that’s what the site was set up for currently, but because it’s the sort of ‘plan’ Tesla can (and often does) seem to change, and then it only takes a few switch flips on the website to effectuate

My use is for recreation, the white provides a cleaner open space feel, nice for cruising.

If I was using it in a dusty work environment, it would be a horror.

Not if it was sheetrock dust!

It must be the drywaller special edition...

Wow, grey looks so much better.
Black would be a lint magnifier, but the white looks like it would show every handprint of a passenger getting in.
The grey looks so good and like it would hide a lot of grime.

Yea, there is a link in the site code that you copy/paste into URL. Then you add and remove codes that were extracted from the JavaScript deep dive.

White is not my favorite but when I was configuring my order, it was the only thing that caused a slight delay. I estimate I paused for about .31 second before I realized it was white or nothing. The rest of the configuration went like greased lightning. ?
