Hi,

I apologize if I'm not in the correct forum.

What are your recommendations for camping hot water heaters? I see quite a few online and not sure what is the best option. With CT electric power available I am leaning toward an electrical version. I have seen small units with small propane tanks that look like good options also.

What should I consider?

Thanks!

I have a camplux gas one on my teardrop style trailer. Works great. Not all electric tho…

It’s mounts easily with a hanger. I could see a cool setup with a hanger from a side molle panel

Are you trying to boil water for coffee/tea or you wanting a shower?

personally I like gas one stove that’s dual fuel. My fuel of choice is butane cartridge. The green tank can be a pain to screw and unscrew after each use. Then a small kettle. I had this kit before owning the CT though.

The other simple option is a plug in kettle for $20.

If for camping/over-landing: highly recommend Joolca

I made my own setup with a 30 gallon bladder, an electric on-demand hot water heater, a pump, and an expansion tank. It works pretty well, except the water temp isn’t as consistent as i would like. I may add a mixing valve to limit the temp of the water and create more consistent output.

For showers.

I'll probably just get a plug in coffee maker for hot beverage stuff.

For “showers” 3 wash clothes and kettle hot water is what I do 🤷🏼‍♂️
kinda like a sponge bath. Very light weight and conserves water. Cracks me up when people ask how to add AC to camp. He’ll just bring a inflatable hot tub.

I use the Kakadu Portable Shower. Uses the propane style. Small. One bottle last me an entire trip. Also battery operated if no power is nearby.

Any thoughts?
Seems like a fantastic price for it. If space is a super premium I would go for the tank version, but otherwise the other model allows for way more volume. I took mine overlanding this year and pulled water from a lake. unlimited showers was a game changer after getting sweaty and muddy riding trails.

It does sound awesome. I like the idea of the precision temp control using recirculating because I’m washing young kids and always have to balance having them getting super cold against the potential for scalding or discomfort.

You can fine tune the other model quite easily. I have pretty much everything that company offers except their hot tub (and probably going to get that too, eventually lmao). They have really great engineering teams. Price is much lower than I would expect also, tbh.
