I'm going to have to call BS on this. It's too focused of a point and I would expect that there would be corresponding damage to the vehicle.

The pattern looks like something else cause it as well.

I'd be happy to be proven wrong, but things don't add up in my engineering mind.
Sorry, I'm not an engineer, but I'm not a liar either. I have an appointment on the 24th, so let's see what the techs say after the diagnosis.

I remember my CT being delivered with a notice to not put key cards in the phone charger, but I didn’t know why.
Yep me too! Our delivery was late May. Perhaps OP was an earlier delivery before they learned it was a risk. They should have sent out a warning email if that’s true.

It’s definitely true we were strongly warned against leaving the card there. I also notice our phones get pretty hot when wireless charging as well.
R u an engineer? cause our engineer friend thinks its a BS since engineers know everything

TBH, I leave the card in my wallet and would give add other operator as a temporary driver on the phone app. Revokable at anytime I choose. ?

Picked up '24 MX in March has a similar charging pad. My phone is extremely hot when removed. Have not melted a key card yet.

Odd, I was given no such warning, and there is none in the manual (other than "do not make a keycard sandwich with your phone" lol)

was tghe key on the back of the phone in one of those god aweful phone wallets ? the keycard contains a coil its not smart to put it on an inductive charger since thats what coils do.

Not your fault and no need to apologize! Just bcos someone has a engineering background doesn't mean they're jack of all trades! Keep us posted after service appointment.

There was a notice with our Key Card at delivery not to put on phone charger...I wish I took a pic of it. Nothing in the manual that I've seen. Just the piece of paper in the bag with the keys

Apple phone users: better protect those valuable Key Cards!

Always kept the card in my wallet, in case my phone didn’t work. It happened often. Lol

That sucks. Rivian lowered the power on the charge mat for the same reason to the point that it’s completly 100% useless. Tesla is going to probably have to do the same.
