I used to take mine through the auto car wash. It seemed to have messed up my driver side mirror but was the only way I could get it looking clean. I had to take it to the dealer to fix. Otherwise fine. Now that I’m wrapped and have ceramic I’m going to wash it at home or with a hand wash somewhere.

I've read a bunch of posts and seen videos on both sides of this argument, but can people who use an automatic car wash give me some peace that I'm not going to trash my truck by using one? I'm grandfathered into a sick price for unlimited washes, used to take my old vehicle through once a week. Washing it myself isn't that big a deal, but the automatic is much easier. Having someone come "detail" the car is just stupid expensive for what they do.

So real life experience: Who takes theirs through on the regular? Any issues?

I just took my Cyber truck through the car wash. It is a new car wash that just came online a few months ago like all of us I was concerned about scratching.. happy to say that did not occur. They are now using a new graphite spray instead of ceramic and I have to say it turned out very well.Everything beads water and stainless finish looks good. This will be the way. I will keep my truck clean . Get on the monthly program for 41 bucks for graphite spray and you can get washed every day.

FOR NEW CYBERTRUCK OWNERS: I want to add here that the description in the manual is NOT what is live in 2025.2.9. There does not appear to be a “Enable Free Roll” mode anywhere. You have to manually push the overhead “N” to put it in neutral.

And here is the stressful kicker. I’m so used to NOT having to touch the break to switch from Drive to Reverse, at the END of the car wash, to drive off it politely asks you to “put it in Drive to continue”- but mentions nothing about pushing on the brake first. I sat at them end of the car wash getting honked at by 3 cars behind me as I yelled “Duuuuuuck” at the truck to swipe into Drive. It sat there dead as a duck- honks escalating from other scared and pissed off people behind- until my reptilian brain stepped on the brake and swiped into drive. Needless to say, I didn’t stay to pamper Clement with a towel dry. He drip ? dried on the ride home as I recovered.

It looks beautiful after car wash. It’s a truck. Everything in the “vault” was pretty wet-leaks from front and back. Probably 2-3 cups of water worth sprayed around- so no storing clothes there when in a car wash.

I installed 2025.2.9 yesterday ?‍♂

It is a bit weird that you must brake and stop to get into Drive. It's a bit like stopping at the bottom of an escalator while people behind you are piling up lol

I have a monthly plan and take my CT in for an auto wash every week with no problems if I follow the following rules:

- the 4 wheel steering is not locked in car wash mode, so make sure that you have the steering wheel straight before the car starts to move (this usually means lining up further back)
- do NOT touch the steering wheel while the CT is still being pushed

Encourage Tesla to lock the rear wheels in car wash mode.

I can’t believe that I posted a reply to an ancient thread but my comment is still valid.

You have to select car wash mode and, then, the enable free roll button will appear.

I don’t know if this is something specific to 13.2.9 because I am on 13.2.8 but that is how it works for me.

I do have clothes in my bed but haven’t noticed a lot of water in there after a car wash.

I should add that we were very careful to select a car wash with floppy brushes, but even so on 2 occasions a short piece of brush got stuck in the trailing corner by the tailgate. No harm to the truck.

on 2 occasions where I had my hands on the wheel the rear wheels turned and the truck stopped moving and they had to stop the machine.

And now I noticed my charger port door is wobbly after a single car wash and it closing on a stuck adapter. Adding it to the service list.
