I was told that if I change my tires to Duratrac RTs would void my warranty. Is that true? I ordered the winter wheels telsa recommened from Tire Warehouse and they would not change my tires.
I am changing them to Tesla approved tires....

They can't void your warranty for changing tires, but you might experience hassles if you're asking Tesla to diagnose an issue that could be caused by the change. Complaining about vibrations, rubbing or other suspension issues with aftermarket rims or non-standard tire sizes could be an issue, but it would still ultimately be on Tesla to prove your changes were responsible.

Tesla will only install OEM tires but you can go to a 3rd party installer to install wtv tire you want with zero effect on B2B warranty. just for the convenience factor alone I always just take my car to Tesla for new tires. I’m definitely paying a premium but I get a loaner vehicle and don’t need to worry about anything

Assuming the tires are OEM equivalent, your warranty will not be void. Not if you slap on something crazy that doesn't fit and something gets damaged, like suspension components, it may not be covered.

Thanks - I called Tesla and, while it took a few hours, I got ahold of a service center working in Paramus NJ who confirmed zero issue putting tires on it. Especially the tesla recommened ones.

They can't void the warranty based on the tires.

But if you change the tires and the wheels and maybe some other things and then complain that the tire is hotting the side, that they can deny, as that can be caused by your changes.

That seems to be where this rumor started.

As long as the tires are not substantially different, there should be no issues.

This happened to me on my Model S. I got Bridgestone tires that were the same size and speed rating but since my repair was related to a tire rubbing the fender, they said they can’t touch my car because I have “after market” tires since they were not the OEM brand. It was strange that a single tire of 4 was rubbing and they pointed to the tires as the cause. I had to take it elsewhere and it turned out it had nothing to do with the tires (was a control arm issue).

Spoke to service dude at tesla and he said it is totally fine. I did it today. Pumped on the Duratracs. Who needs some cheap OEM tires now? Gotta trash mine.
